Publisher's summary

Watcher in the Woods is the next gripping installment of number-one best-selling Kelley Armstrong's riveting Casey Duncan series.

The secret town of Rockton has seen some rocky times lately; understandable considering its mix of criminals and victims fleeing society for refuge within its Yukon borders. Casey Duncan, the town's only detective on a police force of three, has already faced murder, arson, and falling in love in the several months she's lived there. Yet even she didn't think it would be possible for an outsider to locate the town and cause trouble in the place she's come to call home.

When a US marshal shows up demanding the release of one of the residents but won't say who, Casey and her boyfriend, Sheriff Eric Dalton, are skeptical. And yet only hours later, the marshal is shot dead, and the only possible suspects are the townspeople and Casey's estranged sister, smuggled into town to help with a medical emergency. It's up to Casey to figure out who murdered the marshal and why someone would kill to keep him quiet - before the killer strikes again.

not the best in the series

I do like this series but this one was really tough for me. The beginning felt like it was a really slow start and it wasn't until at least half way through that I started getting into the story.

OMG how long until the next one?

I listened to this whole series over the course of two weeks. Love each book more than the last. I wish I enjoyed the other genres she writes in. Oh well. Casey and Eric, I’m. Waiting for you!

Good fun

I could not have been happier to listen to this book (I devoured the first 3 over Christmas break last month). This is perhaps my favorite series of hers (along with Nadia Strafford).
The narrator is good. Her voice seems well cast for the book and she does a good job not having awkward pauses, smacking lips, or audible hard swallows.
The story is well written with tense moments and parts where I was so tempted to jump ahead I had to control myself. This is very much a series that should be read in order for full enjoyment as you grow to know and feel for the characters throughout the stories. KA's website in her 'FAQs' section states that there will only be 4 in the series - the response did not seem final, however. This 4th installment was very much a complete story but it felt open for more at the end with many stories still needing to be told.

Love this series

While this book was great, and I love following this series along with any book from Kelley Armstrong, I found this book to be predictable. with the other books in this series I could not predict the main "bad guy". Still recommended as a good read, just know that it doesn't reach the same level as the past few.

Great story

One of the best books I have listened too in a long time. I like the magic/ physics mix.

winding story with unsatisfactory ending

I've listened to all the books in this series and this one was definitely the bottom of the barrel. There was just too much going on and the story lines weren't well flushed out to really get sucked into any one of them.

This series returns

I loved this book! After book 3, I was so disappointed by book 3, and it almost stopped me from reading further books, but I'm very glad I continued. Watcher in the Woods was a solid read for this series. The overall plot was amazing, and the development of characters was solidly there.

I really enjoyed this series. Not usually my kind of story but I really enjoyed these. the romance isn't too cheesy it's not that predictable.

I love this series.

Therese Plummer is my favourite narrator, hands down. This series is excellent, and thankfully this latest installment was just as captivating as the rest.
