Today, more than a century after his death, countless people continue to have a passion for this London preacher, and more and more discover him every day. Some of Spurgeon’s most powerful sermons were those he preached on Heaven. Up until now, however, very few of these sermons have been available to a modern audience. In what is sure to become an instant classic, best-selling author Randy Alcorn has compiled fifty of the most profound spiritual insights on eternity from these sermons and arranged them into an easily accessible, highly inspirational format complete with his own comments and devotional thoughts. Story
If God is sovereign, how can I be free to choose? But if God is not sovereign, how can he be God? Is it possible to reconcile God's sovereignty with human choice? This is one of the most perplexing theological questions. It's also one of the most personal. In Hand in Hand, Randy Alcorn says that the traditional approach to this debate has often diminished our trust in God and his purposes. Instead of making a one-sided argument from select verses, Alcorn examines the question in light of all Scripture.

And then, how can there be a God if suffering and evil exist?

The weight of glory is a happy burden. Thus God is the happiest Being in the Universe. To know Him in His pleasures is to see Him as He is - and to have a fresh encounter with His transforming presence. If you are hungry for this deep delight, consider the gladness of His great heart. The things that make God glad are the measures of His greatness. Christ and the cross. Choosing His people and bruising His Son. Creating the world and revealing His worth. The gladness of His people in the greatness of His glory.

Story
A. W. Tozer earned a legendary reputation as a prophetic voice, and he continues to be a best-selling author half a century after his death. A preacher at heart, he found his greatest joy in practicing the presence of God. Worship was his focus and his passion. His sermons were such strong declarations of what he discovered during private prayer and worship of the triune God that he had both the ability and the Spirit's anointing to move his listeners to wrestle with what God was saying to the church.

A highly influential example of Puritan writing, The Great Gain of Godliness is Watson's study of Malachi 3:16-18. British Baptist preacher Charles Spurgeon bemoaned the fact that he couldn't find a copy of The Great Gain of Godliness.

Story
Life is fragile. But hope in Christ lasts forever. We tend to go about our day to day routines imagining this earthly existence of ours will just go on and on. But it won’t. Our stay on earth is really very brief. And when a loved one unexpectedly steps out of this life into eternity, it shakes us to the core. We ask ourselves: Is heaven real? Will I see him–will I see her–again? Will we be together again? How can I know for sure?

Compelled to live for Christ and draw others to Him
Just finished listening to this book. I can only hope and pray that it will be read or listened to by everyone I know and more. Can be used one day at a time as it has been broken down into about 50 or so sections so you can listen to it for 10-20 minutes a day or as fast as you want. Randy Alcorn introduces each section and then plays portions of Spurgeon as he addresses Heaven and the important subject of eternity. As a life time Christian wavering on works vs blood, hope vs assurance, and knowledge vs service, It helps to put a perspective on it all.
And finally instills a courage to work to draw others, anyone and everyone to Christ.

A fabulous, biblical book about Heaven!
This is the best book I have read/listened to about Heaven. It is based completely on God’s Word and I loved Randy Alcorn’s intro to each of Spurgeon’s sermons. The book is for anyone who wonders about what the Bible really says about death, Jesus’s return and Heaven. Don’t miss this revealing, exciting and comforting book!!
