Publisher's summary

In this clear and concise text Chris Bartlett provides direct explanations for how to use and interpret vocabulary like "queer", "transgender", and "intersex". Writing to those who are unsure of how to talk about alternative sexualities and gender, the author uses case studies and historical examples to unpack this often misused and misunderstood vocabulary.

For much of his life Chris felt unsure of how to politely address and to interact with people who place themselves outside of the traditionally encouraged heterosexual mold. This fear of appearing ignorant or rude led him to avoid interacting with some people and prevented him from sticking up for others when he should have.

The truth is that being uncomfortable and unsure around a new concept does not make anyone a bad person but when that mindset prevents one from being fair and equitable to others then there is a problem. After listening to this Quick and Dirty Guide to LGBTQIA+ Vocabulary you'll be confident enough to ask polite questions about gender and sexuality and informed enough to understand the answers.

Really Informative and Revealing Book

Any additional comments?

This book is well worth gaining if you are involved in business, politics, education, and many other fields and professions in which you happen to be dealing with anyone with a sexuality other than heterosexual. The author lays out the dissimilarities and the misconceptions among terminology, thinking, and feeling for all 8 types in a candid, clear manner and with really obliging anecdotes and instances.

Super guide....

Chris Bartlett reproduces a series called The Quick and Dirty Guides. Also in the book are The Five Greatest Olympic Disasters, To Brexit or Not to Brexit, Elections, Conventions, The Administration, Committee, and Supreme Court Related. That is, he is not a gay/queer political/cultural activist or a Queer Law teacher. He is not espousing ideas or setting out a declaration of contemporary kind knowledge. This is a guide, recorded by a non-gay man, asked non-gay people, for getting a curious ridge in the report. News reports and the same regarding the full range of reproductive choices and kind changes seldom include baffling series of acronyms and contractions that are usually far from clear. LGBTQIA+, the characters soup done in the subtitle, or QUILTBAG.

Informative

There is a lot of information packed into this audio book. If you aren't familiar with the LGBTQIA+ community, expect to listen to the book a couple of times. I know I will need a refresher, but it is worth it.
