Publisher's summary

When it comes to divorce, forewarned is forearmed. This book delivers both in a story you won't be able to pause. Equal parts suspense thriller and how-to manual, Tim’s memoir is a must read for anyone who’s facing a divorce with children, or loves somebody who is.

While most intuitively understand that divorce brings out the worst in people, and many have heard that separating can be extremely costly and frustrating, few approach the process aware of its greatest pitfalls, how truly terrible they are, and just how prevalent they’ve become.

In What New Hell Next? bestselling thriller writer Tim Tigner takes you behind the scenes of his divorce in a raw and candid look at the dirty tricks that once-decent spouses are gleaning from the internet, and the devastating impact they have on children.

If you think the worst couldn’t happen to you, either because you’re a stand-up individual or you believe your spouse is, think again. If you think the courts are fast, fair, or informed, think again. If you think divorce attorneys, judges, counselors, and therapists make truth, justice, or child welfare their priority, think again. Anyone contemplating divorce would be wise to study up before diving in. This story is a great place to start.

A heartbreaking yet laugh-out-loud page turner!

Terrifying & Heartbreaking yes! Still a laugh aloud page turning memoir, Tim Tigner reveals with brutal honesty the blow-up of his marriage & family during Covid. This is personal, raw, and an unbelievable tale of spousal betrayal, parental alienation, court apathy & corruption.
These characters & story could be straight from his novels. Though, this listener felt as if I was in his backyard sharing a beer with Tigner while he weaved his story and his emotional journey from incredulity, shock and horror to fighting for his children & finding new love.
This is a must read if you are a Tim Tigner fan or are in the thick of a dirty messy divorce yourself with children!

Thanks for Your Courage

There is much that of which I identify. Rather than a review, I look forward to the book you reference: Rules of Estrangement. Thanks.

Candid and terrifying storytelling, with valuable lessons

A bravely candid story, articulately written and narrated by the main character himself. This real life story is both terrifying and educational. Tigner vulnerably and introspectively tells us his story, sharing his mistakes, losses, and victories. This story is rich with revelations and life lessons about the legal and psychological aspects of the predicament of parental alienation.

A valuable bonus is his Afterword chapter, where he generously crafts a recap of very clear and direct advice and tips for addressing parental alienation, based on his hard fought lessons and deep research.

Tim: Admirable feat in breaking through this no-win situation at light speed compared to most, with fewer casualties than most. Your swift urgency, perseverance and brilliance surely has saved your girls from worse. Congrats on getting back to your spy thrillers!

A must read! Parental alienation is real.

I have enjoyed all of Tim's books, and I was curious about this one - and could not be more satisfied with what he delivered. This intensely personal account had me on the edge of my seat throughout. Yes, some of it was difficult to listen to because of my own firsthand experience with my ex-spouse employing the poison of parental alienation. I applaud Tim for highlighting this very real issue - and hope that more can be done to help parents avoid the vicious cycle of abuse that it entails.

I strongly recommend this book to anyone who is married, divorced, thinking about marriage, has children, or wants children. This really is a book for everyone - because it's going to take a lot of engaged people to stop parental alienation.

How many times can you say "Wow!"

I am a fan of Mr. Tigner’s thrillers, but wasn’t sure if I’d like his memoir. By the end of chapter 1, I understood that his Memoir was a Thriller. Wow! Every chapter ended with a twist, many of them heartbreaking and all of them enthralling. This is a very fast listen.

I’m in shock by how intimate this story was. Tigner laid it all out there for the world to see, speaking to listeners as if we were friends grabbing a beer. I can only imagine the courage that took, especially in this cancel culture environment we’re experiencing. He explains why he went out on that limb in the Afterword, but I won’t spoil the surprise.

The audiobook comes with a pdf full of pictures. I was surprised by how much the author was willing to share, but about midway through I saw the method in what appeared to be a touch of madness. He was providing proof for what otherwise might be considered a he-said, she-said story, even though it doesn’t read like that at all. Raw sincerity oozes from this memoir, and the author repeatedly complements his wife and notes how much he loved her, right down to the very last word. He places the blame squarely on side effects from her depression.

While pulling together my thoughts for this review, this being a book that really makes you think, I saw that the first review was extremely negative. At first it made me wonder if the person had heard the same book. Then I saw the East European name of the reviewer, one who hadn’t reviewed another book in over a year, and I put two and two together given that his ex is from Moscow. I guess the dirty tricks Tigner referenced are continuing to surface.

This is a compelling and fascinating story, very well told. It exposes flaws in our legal system and offers remedies to major problems while keeping the reader glued to their earbuds. It's educational, thought provoking and thrilling. Highly recommended.

a thrilling personal growth with a happy end

Tim is a very talented writer. The novel is a fast page-turning psychological thriller. As a fan of Tim's other novels, i knew that there would be a happy ending, so i was mentally prepared to hear the trials and tribulations of his experiences with the expectations that i would be hearing about his personal growth with family and government. Since his avid fans understand Tim the person, the readers will appreciate and understand the traumatic experiences which he had endured. He educated me on new psychological vocabulary to allow me to understand my own personal traumas, and other readers will do the same. i also enjoyed his inline photos which brought the stories on an even more personable level.
