Publisher's summary

From the best-selling author of Good Girl, Bad Girl and When You Are Mine comes a gripping thriller featuring the brilliant forensic psychologist Cyrus Haven as he becomes embroiled in an explosive murder case with disturbing origins.

Criminal psychologist Cyrus Haven and Evie Cormac return in this “powerhouse of a novel” (Booklist, starred review) from internationally best-selling author Michael Robotham, a writer Stephen King calls “an absolute master...with heart and soul.”

Who is Evie, the girl with no past, running from? She was discovered hiding in a secret room in the aftermath of a terrible crime. Her ability to tell when someone is lying helped Cyrus crack an impenetrable case in Good Girl, Bad Girl. Now, the closer Cyrus gets to uncovering answers about Evie’s dark history, the more he exposes Evie to danger, giving her no choice but to run. Ultimately, both will have to decide if some secrets are better left buried and some monsters should never be named....

Sad situation topic

While sexual abuse of children is tragic reality, it also is a depressing topic for fiction reading. Robotham captures the terrible impact this behavior has on the children with great emotion and sadness. I don’t care much for the “flashback “ approach to telling the story. The plot drags for much of the book but is only a minor distraction. Be advised the use of sexually explicit/street language is scattered throughout the story. Hopefully this story will bring about greater public awareness of this terrible aspect of human behavior.

Great follow up

I enjoyed the continuation of the first book and learning more about the characters. The narrator has such a variety of. voices and styles that I just really enjoyed listening!

The story and the narrator were excellent. I really enjoyed these first two books in the series. They were very well written.

Very good sequel.

Always feel like I have to remind people that 4 stars is interpreted as "It's Great." Love Jo Jameson as a narrator. He's very, very good. Enjoyed the continuation of the original story in this sequel. And enjoyed how all the lose ends were tied up and all the questions answered. It was very good.

Excellent

The Thrilling Adventure continues...
Cyrus the Psychologist and Evie his abused patient stir up a lot of danger in this story. The Intense mystery grows, as Cyrus uncovers clue after clue to a Sick pedaphil ring that Evie survived.
The plot is Intense, with Excellent characters and you will find out that some of these characters are Creeps.

The Narrator is Perfect! He really brought both of these stories to life. Both books were Excellent. I will be reading more from this Great Author👍

Subject matter a little rough

I like Robotham as an author, but this is about child sexual abuse. Also, the author took a line from To Kill a Mockingbird- shame, shame...

Slow start, but good.

This book was a bit hard to get into but several chapters in, I was hooked. I’ve read a few of Robotham’s books, first, Good Girl, Bad Girl then When She Was Good. I loved those two and had no idea I’d see Cyrus in this book as well. This book being my least favorite of the three, I’d still recommend.
