About this listen

She's brave, crazy, dangerous... and your best shot of crossing the galaxy alive.

Captain Shaen Morris may be certifiably insane. Her ship the Belle Starr may look like a rusty, lobster-shaped piece of junk. But for the right price, they'll get you off-world, using the interdimensional portal known as "the Passage".

When a robot shows up with some unusual cargo, Shaen questions its motivations. When it refuses to power down during transit, she questions whether the fare is worth it. Something lurking in limbo endangers them all, and it takes some fancy flying to get everyone out alive.

The story was descriptive yet never boring. With Angel Clark's narration, it felt like I was there. It felt fresh and intriguing!

I especially liked the captain and her ship. And I'm looking forward to listening to the next books!

I must say this little gem surprised me. I like a good sci-fi short and this didn’t disappoint at all. Story and narration were a great blend. Love that the author named and patterned her character after the outlaw Belle Star from the old west. Definitely had the vibe of everyone’s favorite brown coat tv show. I love the reasoning behind the pilots being the way they are. This is a highly recommended story for me and I can’t wait to delve into the rest of the series. I've never read this author or know the overall stories in this series, so you'd think a prequel would be a good introduction but I'd disagree with this particular one. It seems the stories are already established and the author went back and wrote a little meeting story prequel; which probably thrilled fans but didn't do anything for a newbie. It wasn't a complete standalone story nor did it leave me wanting more. I was just left going "well there was that". I think there was a missed opportunity to hook new readers with some excitement or good character builds but none of that happened, so onto the next.

Probably better for already established fans.

It was short but fun! Take a ride on the Belle Starr (perfect name for her ship) with a coyote captain through the stars on one of her runs. Her passenger has quite the unexpected cargo.

Fun Little Ride

I would compare this story to one of Asimov’s stories, positing an unusual pilot with an unusual passenger. The questions raised at the end are concepts to muse over.

Interesting concept
