Two sisters. One enchanted forest. And a hidden destiny that could doom them both....

I didn’t want to come live in the castle beside the Darkwood, and I especially didn’t want to become enemies with my stepsister Neeve. But how could I help it? She has magic, while I’m an ordinary girl. She’s the heir to the throne, while I’m an annoying afterthought since my mother married the king. And Neeve has the ability to master her emotions while I’m a re-haired disaster.

She also has Thorne, the handsome guardian of the forest who tutors her in the powers that are her heritage. Even though I know he could never be mine, I can’t keep my heart from dreaming of the impossible.

But everything changes the day I uncover the secrets the castle has been hiding....

Another fabulous book!!

This awesome book actually starts like most, mom and daughter going to new home because mom just married this guy. That was about as typical as it got. The building of the characters of Rose and Nive, were subtle yet full of secrets and what appeared to be hostility. So much that she follows Nive into the forest because she want to see what is being hidden fro, her and she just can't keep out of what's happening. She meets Thorn and is jealous in my opinion of the connection between Thorn and Nive. She decides they look to much alike and before asking she decides Nive is not all human. From here the story keeps growing as well as the friendships.

Rose gets angry at times and certain things happen that she along with others can not understand why. She always leaves out the part of her notes about being angry. I am sure later in the stories this will be expanded on. The Prince is sent to court for fostering and tosses some into disarray. Rose becomes ill and her mom takes her back home, which is not smart as the whacked priests that are in control want Rose. They eventually make it back home, and now the story will continue.

I am leaving lots out because they would be spoilers in my opinion. I can not wait for the next installment!! I truly enjoyed being brought into this fantasy. Thank you for the opportunity!!

Very good

White as Frost was a great first book in the series. Full of magic and secrets, this fast paced story was well written with intriguing characters. Rose is an outsider new to castle Raine when her mother married the king, she tries to make friends with her new step-sister who wants nothing to do with her. As Rose starts to unravel some secrets that this land holds, she longs to possess some magic herself as many others around her do. I really enjoyed this book and am excited to see how the story continues.

different

Rose is a strong girl but she feels that she is different from everyone else. Rose and Neeve relationship does not start off good but at the end the become friends. When Rose meets Thorne it causes more trouble with Neeve because of her birthright but they all become friends. Rose loves the the forest even when it has tried to kill her several times. When a prince is sent to stay with the king it brings a new dynamic to all. It was hard for Rose when she become ill on her birthday and when it is no longer safe for her to be in the woods. This was a great book from start to finish it has all. Anthea is a great story teller and Amy did a great job bringing it to life. I can't wait to see what happens next

I absolutely loved this story

Rose moves into a castle after her mother marries a king. Neeve is now her step sister and she hopes they will become friends. That isn't an easy task however. Their interests and upbringings were very different. Rose was determined to learn about the mysterious step sister & her trips into the dark wood. She followed her and discovered some amazing secrets that must not be revealed. I love the characters & the creatures. Books by Anthea are always fantastic..

Fast, fun read

This was a fast, fun read. I really enjoyed Rose, and I loved the Darkwood (magical forests are some of my favorite settings, and the Darkwood is really well done.) I’m excited to see where the story goes next.

I liked the narration overall, but her voices for some characters were a little whiny.

Kinda long to end with so many questions

I am enjoying the story however, I feel like the author is a little long-winded get more questions than answers, and I understand it’s part of a trilogy so eventually hopefully the answers come, but I feel like individual books should have a beginning, middle and end and not just belong forever, and then roll into the next book, which is what this book does

White As Frost

This was a really, really good book. I liked both the main characters Rose and Neeve. Rose came to live with Neeve and her father, the king, in the castle of Raine when her mother married the king. The first thing that caught my attention was before they even got to the castle, things were happening that caused lots of questions. I like Rose's personality especially in contrast with her mother's.

I did feel bad for Rose to start out because she wanted her new 'sister' to want to be friends as much as she did, and Neeve just wasn't having it. As the story unfolds, I loved learning the secrets that the place and especially the woods holds. The creatures and the magic, I'm just itching to learn more. I think this book has wonderfully set up the series to follow. Each time we get an answer, it seems more questions come to mind. The author does a great job with keeping you intrigued and wanting to keep listening for more. I can't wait for the next book.
