About this listen
English rose Eleanor Rigby has stared into the cold eyes of death more than once. To escape its icy grip, she flees as a mail-order bride to a new future with Samuel Johnson, a Western cowboy.
But when a lost love returns from the grave to claim his broken bride, a fearful fight for Ellie's own life and sanity ensues.
Can the bonds of true love bring her home, or will she be lost forever?
A maiden's voyage, a failing family business, ravages of war and rejoicing in hope, all lead to an emotional mail-order bride tale that will carry you on the high seas of clean Christian romance.
The Beauty for Ashes inspirational romance collection are stirring stories of despairing mail-order brides pulled from the ashes by loving Western husbands.

We see protests involving pro-choice believers against pro-life believers. We see political maneuvers as the blue states scramble to hold on to the freedoms that they see being taken away while the red states scramble to close up any gaps that can be used to allow abortion to take place within their borders.

In New York City, in April of 1874, a most unusual event took place. A severely abused nine-year-old girl named Mary Ellen Wilson became the first child in America to be rescued from an abusive home. She had been beaten, burned, slashed with scissors, locked in a closet, and had never been outside of her tenement home in over 7 years. Thanks to the concern and dedication of a missionary named Etta Wheeler, the child was finally saved from her cruel captors.

Inspiring Story!
This audiobook tells a very inspirational story of a resilient young lady named Eli. She is a mother and a wife who has gone through tremendous agony and pain but has overcome them with love and grace and has found her way while creating a new life for her and her son. The narrator really brought the characters to life with the different tones in their voices,
Hopefully, there is a continuation of this story unfolding Eli's new life,

Moving Story
This was a very emotional story. What war can do to men, how it affects their wives and loved ones, the pains caused by class distinction, etc. It's not an easy book to read in places, but God answers prayer and can work things out for his glory. He is faithful to those who trust Him even when all seems lost. The historical setting during the Civil War brought to mind the horrible cost it required. There is romance in the story as well that illustrates how beautiful a patient love can be. Truly a wonderful book!
The narration was good; done with feeling that well depicted the emotions of the characters.

Enthralling!
This gripping story had me listening from cover to cover without stopping. It is a wonderful romance set way back at the end of the war and featured a young wife whose life had handed her lemons. The plot was an interesting one with riveting twists and turns. I couldn't help wondering what I would have done if I had found myself in the same situation as this woman. Wonderful story ! I will look out for the other books in the series as the writer has me hooked. The narrator was great too!

Enjoyed the narration
The only reason I finished the book was for the great narration. I especially liked her interpretation of the villain of the story. Her voice brought more life to the characters than the writer. Story was predictable and honestly awful at one point. The characters were weak and unrelatable. The main character was especially weak in development and relatability. Bottom line, I have a very hard time believing the fallacy of a Christian wife as a doormat and whipping post.
