Story
When reporter Bert Chekov falls to his death, his colleague James Tyrone is suspicious. Chekov’s column had recently recommended some ‘can’t-lose’ horses, who then wound up out of the running on race day. Tyrone thinks he can prove it was murder, but he may not live to tell the tale. Because as the dead man has already made clear, there’s no such thing as a sure thing...

Excellent reading of one of Dick Francis's best
Simon Prebble is the best reader of Dick Francis's works because he has the ability to portray the feelings and British emotions of the characters. This book is one of the best written by Francis. It is about a former jockey who is now a film director. It is a mesmerizing book to listen to. I highly recommend it.

Another great performance!
Each time I read or listen to a Dick Francis tale I am staggered anew at his talent with words; he's the best author in that regard that I've ever known. I wrote him many years ago to thank him for so MANY enjoyable hours of reading, and wish I could have met him. The hardest thing to decide is which of his stories is my favorite; every time I finish one I think "It must be THIS one," then I start another and change my mind. :-)
And Simon Prebble must be the best narrator ever; he brings these stories to life so well it's hard to believe it's all not real. If a book has his name on it, I know it will be a first-rate performance: he's expert at making you think all these different people are there ... but it's Simon - all by himself. What a talent! Bravo once again!

Great story!
Books by Dick Francis never fail to deliver suspense, entertainment, interesting characters, and action in spare and elegant prose. Put all that with Simon Prebble’s brilliant narration, and you can expect a winner every time. I thoroughly enjoyed Wild Horses.

Dick Francis - always good
You can't go wrong with Dick Francis. He always wrote a good, exciting whodunnit. You can't go wrong with Simon Prebble either - great narrator.

run wild with these horses
terrific story all tied together at the end with great narration. the voices were always recognizable as the particular character speaking. I didn't figure out who dunnit until it was revealed and it was done so as needed to be -- all tied up neatly.

Top Notch Job
I hadn't read this particular Dick Francis book, and was surprised and pleased to find it. I enjoyed the performance of it tremendously. Simon Preeble did a marvelous job! He made the characters separate entities and all believable. I hope to read more w/him narrating.

Excellent story!
The narration was expertly done...you can separate the characters by voice and no mental jerks in the process.
The story is one of the best by this author...and I've read nearly all of them!
