Editorial Review

Several contributors come together to bring to life this anthology of Latinx experiences, showcasing the beautiful chaos of ethnicity. Knowledge-filled and intriguing, the stories prove that lenses can be similar but rarely the same.
Saraciea J. Fennell does a beautiful job collecting the most insightful narratives to represent her dynamic perspective on Latinidad. Not the most lighthearted read, Wild Tongues Can't Be Tamed: 15 Voices from the Latinx Diaspora is a complex audiobook that is a notedly great collection of short stories that amplify Latinx voices and showcase Latinx writers.
Many in the U.S. are blind when it comes to understanding the intricacies of the Latinx experience and how it relates to race, ethnicity, language, and culture. It comes naturally to understand the varying groups that coexist Stateside, but when imagining our neighboring society south of the border, Latinidad is consistently lumped into one monolithic persona that does not represent all or most of those who belong. This causes vital discussion within the community to drown out— leaving space for issues like colorism, cultural pressures, and anti-Blackness to stew and multiply. This audiobook anthology is brought to life with a full-cast narration from its contributors, including the New York Times best-selling author Ibi Zoboi, young adult novelist Elizabeth Acevedo, journalist Janel Martinez, poet Julian Randall, and more.
This collection of stories highlights the diversity of the Latinx diaspora by giving voice to award-winning perspectives and identities in this highly diverse community. Contributors touch on their own experiences, exploring themes of mental health, the Afro-Latinx identity, and trials and tribulations that come with the intersection of each personal identity. As much educational as it is insightful, these personal essays make up an anthology that will bring value to both young and old listeners from the Latinx community and those outside of it. This is a no-brainer addition to your wishlist. —Audible Latino Editor.

Thank you for bringing all the stories of lived experiences to this platform. The stories being told was so relatable to my life and experiences being a Chicana with indigenous roots in Colorado. The inequalities, injustices, racism, discrimination, stereotyping and biases I endure working in State Government. Congratulations to the many folx you will inspire to give hope to. Thank You, Again!✊🏽❤️✊🏽

Wild Tongues Can't Be Tamed is a treasure trove of essays and poems.

"Write with your eyes like painters, with your ears like musicians, with your feet like dancers. You are the truthsayer with quill and torch. Write with your tongues of fire." - Gloria Anzaldua

Wild Tongues Can't Be Tamed is a treasure trove of essays and poems. 15 voices from the Latinx diaspora collaborated and tied their distinct identities into each essay. Debut authors alongside literary canons share their personal stories, perspectives, historical facts and issues within a very diverse Latinx culture. Well-crafted overarching themes that will undoubtedly educate those who dare to question one's gender, race and ethnic inclusion, all the while dismantling stereotypes, capturing the beauty and diversity of the Latinx diaspora. Each essay proves the importance of storytelling in sharing familial and cultural history in an effort to educate the younger generation, dismantle stereotypes and build community. This book is even more exceptional in that it will be used in schools allowing Afro Latinx and Latinidads to claim space, be included and see themselves within these pages.
