Publisher's summary

"Osorio's breathy narration captures the wonder in this fantastical story filled with dragons, adventure, and complex characters."—AudioFile on Together We Burn

Isabel Ibañez's Together We Burn is a lush, enchanting standalone fantasy inspired by medieval Spain, filled with romance, adventure and just the right amount of danger.

An ancient city plagued by dragons

Eighteen-year-old Zarela Zalvidar is a talented flamenco dancer and daughter of the most famous Dragonador in Hispalia. People come for miles to see him fight in their arena, which will one day be hers. But disaster strikes during one celebratory show, and in the carnage, Zarela’s life changes in an instant.

A flamenco dancer who must become a dragon hunter to save her family legacy

With the Dragon Guild trying to wrest control of her inheritance from her, Zarela has no choice but to train to become a Dragonador. But when the most talented dragon hunter left in the land—the infuriatingly handsome Arturo Díaz de Montserrat—withholds his help, Zarela cannot take no for an answer. Without him, her world will burn.

Perfect

I loved this book. It was beautifully written and the romance was fantastic. The narrator did a great job.

An Adorable Standalone!

Sabotage, murder, and dragons, oh my!!

A lovely Hispanic story with an excellent narrator about a vivacious señorita hell bent on saving her family’s dragon-fighting arena/home.

Throw in a handsome reluctant trainer, a sassy bff, and an amazing red dragon with a story that twists and turns like the best flamenco dancer and you have quite the incendiary story!

Very good

I love Spain and I love to see European inspired YA books (there aren’t many). The world is fascinating and the take on bullfighting highly relevant while taking a clever turn to stay away from controversy while making the story about dragons. Zarela’s journey isn’t that mind blowing but what really sold me was the writing. In the begging I don’t realize just how beautifully written this book is. It makes up for the slow paced story and a bit too predictable ending and too easily resolved issues (suddenly the fire breathing dangerous dragon is good and flies with humans). Isabel Ibañez has a gift with the pen, creating this immersive world filled with vivid metaphors.

Cheesy and boring

The story felt like a boring Disney movie that dragged out WAY too long.
The narrator had a breathy voice that sounds like she’d be great at reading children’s books. It made it hard to take anything seriously. It also made the “spicy” scenes unbearable.
