About this listen

This complete set includes all four books in the Wish Quartet - over 30 hours of magic, romance, forgotten gods, and plot twists!

Josephina Espinosa woke up on her last day alive knowing three things:

  1. This was supposed to be her last job.
  2. Magic wasn't real.
  3. The Society of Wishes definitely didn't exist.

She was so, so wrong.

Now she's the newest member of the very Society she thought was only a legend. Her work is only just beginning. And Jo must earn her place among her new team by helping grant wishes using powerful, destructive magic within her.

Jo is used to having a lot on her plate. What she's not used to is following orders - especially when they come from the mysterious and sexy leader of the Society, Snow.

When Jo directly ignores Snow's orders to save the life of her best friend, she learns that there's much to the Society she still doesn't understand. Everyone has their secrets.... And none may be deadlier to discover than her own past.

I tried

I got through half of book 2 and i am upset that I it did not keep my attention. The synopsis was really not what I heard.

Progressively better

At the beginning of the first book it presents as a mash between sci-fi and fantasy. There is a lot of tech and a post-modernist world but in a time of extreme need magic presents itself. As the stories and books continue it becomes much less sci-fi and much more fantasy. The first book seemed more like a 2.5/5 for me. I could see that the authors were setting something up but it wasn’t enough to make me continue reading the series if it had not been for this box set audiobook. The book just seemed a bit underdeveloped. In the second one the world seems to open up a bit more and there is more of a driving force in the story. The third book is really where you get to the ‘meat’ of it all and start finding out the secrets and get more information on all the magic and the world. Then the fourth is where most of the action happens and the saving the world but coalesces. I will say that the story gets progressively better with each book as the world opens up more.

Well performed intriguing story

Very enjoyable plot line. Overall, the story is well thought out and keeps your attention. There are parts where it drags, but it quickly picks up again. It's nice to have the entire series in one recording. The story is set in a future timeline and dimension. I thought I had the series figured out in the first book, but I had no clue how the story would twist and turn and ultimately end up in a whole new world.

The performance kept me interested

The story was unique and lots of unexpected twists and turns. Sometimes it felt as it was going in circles. The love relationship was interesting and intimate but I was confused why the complication was thrown in. Over all it was a good story.

Good story, terrible narration

I didn’t expect a story about a 19 year old Hispanic hacker from Dallas to be read by someone who sounds like a middle aged Midwestern woman reading an ‘80s romance novel. Additionally, her inflections were all wrong and she didn’t properly convey emotions. Her accents of all besides Jo, Wayne and Pan were decent. Most of the time, Wayne and Pan were indistinguishable. It was incredibly frustrating to listen to.

I endured because I am a huge fan of Elise. The story itself was great, as I expected. I’m just going to have to purchase the series on Kindle or paperback and read them for myself to be able to fully enjoy and appreciate it.

Interesting series

Narrator does a good job; not on my favorites list, but she did fine.

Cool idea with the Society of Wishes, and the mystery surrounding the society. Jo has a survivor mentality, which is great, but she lacks common sense a lot of the time and her morals aren’t the greatest at times. She can be an annoying character. Jo is a new member of the society, and isn’t handling things very well. Her existence has been removed from any of those who knew her; her family included, so she’s taking it very hard. It also doesn’t help that the new people in her life; those in the society, aren’t very clear on what the society is trying to accomplish and aren’t exactly welcoming. I didn’t really care for many of the side characters. Plus, there’s something really odd going on at the society that causes Jo to lash out at times. Also, Jo can’t give up on her past life, so problems ensue when she tries to get involved there. I do enjoy the connection between Jo and her main romantic interest; it takes awhile to come together, but I like the vibe going on there. I do not like that Jo has “romance” with someone that is not the love interest for this series though; it just puts a damper on my enjoyment of the actual romance. The series can move a bit slowly, but after reading all the books of the series I enjoyed the series. Overall, an entertaining series!
