ONE OF THE NEW YORK TIMES' BEST ROMANCES OF THE YEAR!

"One of the most perfect books I’ve read this year."—
New York Times

A
USA Today Bestseller!

An Amazon's Best Romances of August!

One of the New York Public Library's Best Books of 2023!

She has a to-do list a mile long and falling for her coworker isn't on it—yet somehow he’s become her top priority in this romantic comedy from the national bestselling author of Love in the Time of Serial Killers.

Lauren Fox is the bookkeeper for Cold World, a tourist destination that's always a winter wonderland despite being located in humid Orlando, Florida. Sure, it’s ranked way below any of the trademarked amusement parks and maybe foot traffic could be better. But it’s a fun place to work, even if “fun” isn’t exactly Lauren’s middle name.

Her coworker Asa Williamson, on the other hand, is all about finding ways to enliven his days at Cold World—whether that means organizing the Secret Santa or teasing Lauren. When the owner asks Lauren and Asa to propose something (anything, really) to raise more revenue, their rivalry heats up as they compete to come up with the best idea. But the situation is more dire than they thought, and it might take these polar opposites working together to save the day. If Asa thought Lauren didn't know how to enjoy herself, he's surprised by how much he enjoys spending time together. And if Lauren thought Asa wasn't serious about anything, she's surprised by how seriously he seems to take her.

As Lauren and Asa work to save their beloved wintery spot, they realize the real attraction might be the heat generating between them.

Critic reviews

“An electric, utterly unique workplace romance that burrowed deep into my heart, starring polar opposites with off-the-charts sexual tension and a truly unforgettable setting that feels like a character in itself. With Love, From Cold World is a steamy delight sure to keep you warm all through the winter. I need everything Alicia Thompson writes beamed directly into my brain.”—Rachel Lynn Solomon, New York Times bestselling author of Weather Girl

“Alicia Thompson writes stories that are so uniquely real to me, with characters who are flawed and lovable and achingly relatable, alongside writing that balances trauma and humor with incredible skill and heart. I was invested in Lauren, Asa, and the quirky world of Cold World from the jump, and I loved their story every step of the way. A new forever favorite.”—Anita Kelly, author of Love & Other Disasters

"I fell hard for the characters in this world—Asa and Lauren are complicated and flawed and so easy to root for, and I loved watching them become tentative friends, passionate lovers, and, finally, committed, confident partners to each other. Imaginative and sexy and thoughtful, With Love, From Cold World will warm you from the inside out."—Kate Clayborn, author of Love at First

Comfy romance

A book set in a winter world around the Christmas season is an odd choice to listen to during a summer heat wave, but that is what I did, and have zero regrets.

A dash of internalized biphobia hit in in the beginning, when I understood that a book categorized under lgbtq+ romance was a love story between a man an a woman. I kicked myself in the leg moments later. This is an lgbtq+ book, the main male character is bisexual, many of the side characters are queer, and a bisexual in a non-samesex relationship is still a bisexual.

I enjoyed the story. I quickly fell in live with the main couple, and the supportive friends in their life. The narration was excellent. I'm going to look up the author's other work. I highly recommend this book. And climate change IS real.

What a great book!

This is such a well written, well performed book. From the awesome found family element to the vulnerable and easy to root for characters, I was enthralled!

Loved it!!!

I thought I was going to smash this book out in a few days because I have been waiting forever, but oh is life, it took a month to finish and I ate up every second I had to listen to it.

I’ve never been to Florida but I live in hawai’i and boy do I want to experience a real life Cold World now lol.

Fantastic story telling of two beautiful souls and how their life comes together.

Some books you read (or listen to in this case) and put down and never think of again. I’ll be thinking of it for weeks and more than likely listen again. Great work, Alicia!

Really good!

I hadn’t read this author before, but I’m so glad a friend recommended this book. Like The Hating Game meets Disney World. Not quite as funny, but the backstories are more interesting. Make sure you listen all the way through the lovely acknowledgments!

Well written with great narration, characters you can really connect with, and just enough spice. Can’t wait to listen to the author’s previous book next!

Great writing and good narrator. One of the best releases this 2023. Certainly worth the credit. Just beautiful.

The warmest hug of a book

Thank you, Alicia, from the whole LGBTQ+ community for Asa and his story. Makes me hope ordinary people deserve happy endings as much as superheroes

YUCK !

UGHHHHH what was this ?? seriously that was horrible, I don't how I could complete this book!
The idea of the book is nice, it's about Lauren and Asa they work together in a place in Orlando called Cold World, where its basically Christmas all year long, but these two hate each other's guts, until they realize that Cold World is failing and they might go bankrupt and they will unite to save it, and they discover they love each other all along
now, after my quick summary you would think, wow, that is so darn cute why are you having such a reaction towards it ? .. well my friends, that's because every character in the book is an utter crap, specially that sorry of an excuse Asa, he is the ultimate drama queen, and Lauren is just pethetic I really hated every moment in this book, the only thing that saved it is the last scene, otherwise the story was boring as hell and everything erked me to no end
