What are HighTower Fairytales?

HighTower Fairytales lean more toward the original sources (not Disney) with rich, semi-historical settings. They have magic. They have scary monsters. And, most importantly, they have unique and complex characters who are trying hard to improve themselves.

Basically, they are stories meant to inspire, but have a very difficult and occasionally dark tower to climb. They also include plenty of humor, and all the heroes marry their prince/princess charming and live happily ever after at the end. Most are conservatively marked at 14+ and are appropriate for teens and young adults.

Would recommend!

"I looked between the monster and the man and I didn’t care what anyone else thought. I knew which one I wanted. Isabelle Berger knows there is a beast in the woods with the power to kill over a hundred people. She wants to marry him, but inadvertently strips him of his powers in the process. Leaving them both open when a new wolf starts his hunt. WOLF IN SHEEP’S CLOTHING is the direct sequel to Cry Wolf—a darker twist on Beauty and the Beast inspired from the legend of the Beast of Gévaudan and the French Revolution." I absolutely LOVED Cry Wolf (the first book in the series), so I was very excited to start on this one. The writing style was similar to Cry Wolf, and both of the books could definitely be considered as novella-length. Good things first. Howl is still amazing(!) and super adorable and now we get to see quite a bit from his POV! There were also quite a few good action scenes, but nothing too graphic or violent. I listened to the audiobook version of Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing, so reading the book instead of listening to it probably would’ve produced a different experience for me. With the audiobook, though, the story felt extremely short. Granted, I did listen to it at 1.5 speed, but that’s what I did with Cry Wolf and with every other audiobook, too, and I didn’t really have that same feeling with any of the rest. So if I were you, I wouldn’t speed this one’s audiobook up. Also, with this one, there was a third narrator (one for Belle’s POV, one for Jean’s, and one for Howl’s), but I ended up not liking Howl’s narrator too much. It wasn't that he was bad at reading audiobooks, but I seriously think his voice was too deep for Howl. I really loved the way Howl sounded when it was Belle’s POV (with the female narrator speaking), but Howl’s narrator just made things sound kind of cheesy and unrealistic. The writing was amazing, but the narration wasn't always. I was left wishing there were more scenes with Belle and Howl together. Speaking of that, I think mostly this book is leading up to book three. Belle and Howl barely have any interaction together in this one. (*spoiler*) For most of the book, Belle is trapped with Jean (please excuse wrongly spelled names since I used the audiobook. (*end of spoiler*) However, there’s still plenty of humor on Howl’s part for those of you who love that like me, and the book is still plenty interesting! Overall, this is a series that I would recommend. Book 2 wasn't perfect, but that’s okay! Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are completely my own and I was not required to leave a positive review.

Fun YA Beauty & the Beast Variation

This is book two in this Beauty and the Beast variation. This is not close to Disney's version; it has a more timid Belle and a fun twist on the beast. These books do need to be read in order. Give them a chance, this author does some amazing world and character building! Each of these books make for quick reads, being under 4 hours each, and are quick paced with the action/adventure side of them. I love how she's incorporated some French history into this series. I just wish these were longer, the story feels short, then is left off on a bit of a cliffhanger, so now I'm waiting for book 3.

The narration is great, and I liked having the two narrators to help manage the male and female characters.

Parents- PG13 probably 15+ read- merely due to some violence and animal references to "mating", kissing, and some unwanted advances and touching that could be triggering for sexual assault or abuse victims. It was still kept a clean tale, the talk of mating, is used more as an animal term of coupling/marriage and starting a family/having pups.

A balance of hilarious and AWFUL HEARTACHE

Howl is still amazing and absolutely adorable and hilarious. Belle is still great too. Jean is awful. The character arcs in this book were fantastic. The ending was a great twist and also NO and I have to go start 3 to make sure the author fixes it.
