About this listen

Connivers, cutthroats, and kings. Mercenary’s mission: Avoid the first, kill the second, and save the third. Sounds easy.

King Nogel of Kelwyn seeks to hunt in his forests, unaware that a crazed killer is after his head. Mercenary Corin an Fol is summoned north to protect the king. Enter the trap. Corin soon realizes someone from his past is out to get him first.

Corin, having escaped disaster in the desert, returns to Raleen and finds Silon waiting for him. Again, promised gold, he makes for the Woods between the Waters in a far corner of Kelwyn. Someone is killing nobles up there. Word’s out the king’s next.

Silon suspects Caswallon’s hand, believing that the schemer wants King Nogel dead to secure his rise to power. A vicious gang of outlaws is operating in the vicinity. Corin’s task: watch them and wait. Report back. Do nothing rash! So much for good advice!

Wolves and Assassins is the concluding book in the Mercenary Trilogy featuring Corin an Fol, a man chosen by the gods to walk a dark path. The novel is the latest audiobook in a stunning new fantasy series called Legends of Ansu. If you like tough action featuring gritty characters set to a vivid fantasy backdrop of war and vengeance, then you are going to love this new tale by J.W. Webb.

Great read

Wolves and Assassins: A Legends of Ansu fantasy (Mercenary Trilogy Book 3), my seventh read from author J.W. Webb. Great characters, non-stop action, a great read/listen, I thought that I'd read the Corin an Fol saga in order & completed it, then I discovered I hadn't read this book. I was given an Audible copy of this book in December of last year & am voluntarily reviewing. Andrew McDermott’s excellent narration & accent again add to the book's enjoyment. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Addictive Mercenary Fun!

This is the third book in a series. It could stand alone, but you would be missing a lot of back story and adventures. This book is about the continuing adventures of Corin An Fol, a mercenary. Each seems to have gotten better as far as a substantial story and character building. There is a build up of things to come involving the fate of the empire, possible war and the fates of the characters. This also brings in more of the mystical part of the fantasy.
The story is entertaining and deeper in development. The natation is excellent as always by Andrew Mc Dermott.
Would most definitely recommend this book and the whole series!

timeline

I think somewhere along the lines JW has revised the original writings, but did not go back and make sure that the previous books lined up with the newest work. or maybe he wanted the stories to overlap. Not sure, but it really throws me off as a reader. Other than that the story is a good read.

Good continuation

This is the fifth book I’ve read/listened to by this author and I am enjoying the series. I have not listened to every book in order. Maybe that’s why it feels I’m missing something or the story doesn’t quite seem cohesive. I find the god involvement in the story kinda out of place and it seems unnecessary, but I suppose it will become important in another series?

This is the fifth book I’ve listened to by this narrator ( Andrew McDermott ) and I would listen to another. ??.

There are no explicit sex scenes, or overly excessive violence. Mild occasional swearing.

Wonderful continuation of the series!

I really enjoyed listening to this book. As I've mentioned before, anything Andrew McDermott narrates is a book I'll listen to! This story fortunately can stand on its own as well! The characters are interesting and well developed. The story world is detailed and interesting. The book is well written and I recommend it for sword and sorcery or fantasy fans! I'm looking forward to the rest of the books in the world of Ansu!
