About this listen

The aging orc shaman Ner'zhul has seized control of the Horde and reopened the Dark Portal.

His brutal warriors once again encroach upon Azeroth, laying siege to the newly constructed stronghold of Nethergarde Keep. There, the archmage Khadgar and the Alliance commander, Turalyon, lead humanity and its elven and dwarven allies in fighting this new invasion.

Even so, disturbing questions arise. Khadgar learns of orcish incursions farther abroad: small groups of orcs who seem to pursue a goal other than simple conquest. Worse yet, black dragons have been sighted as well, and they appear to be aiding the orcs. To counter Ner'zhul's dark schemes, the Alliance must now invade the orcs' ruined homeworld of Draenor. Can Khadgar and his companions stop the nefarious shaman in time to stave off the destruction of two worlds?

I love Christie Goldens writing, but I would have preferred a male voiceover on a book with primarily male orc characters.

Great novel, and the narration is incredible. I have gone back and forth with her narration, but in this book it is very, very, good. She is quite the artist.

As a World of Warcraft player of 17 years, I loved this book and how it does a deeper dive into the story I’ve come to know and love. Christie Golden is a masterful narrator, and she makes a well-written book even better. I cannot wait to continue the WOW book series.

Another great WOW book

Christie Golden not only an accomplished author with both attention set to lively dialogue, and lore friendly novel structure. That aside she is also an excellent Narrator for the audiobook; having had written the book. An extraordinary piece of fantasy literature from Ms. Golden yet again!

I love listening to Golden read, and she lends emotional weight to a story that fills in a lot of holes for those of us who did not play the Warcraft games before World of Warcraft. Absolutely worth a listen!

Powerful book, Steady Read!

This is an amazing sequel to World of Warcraft, Dark Tide. Amazing story and narration performance, though I do have to say it does seem kind of odd to have a girl narrate a novel with a mostly male cast of characters, she does a good job, giving variation to the characters, especially her impression of Alleria which is very close to the actual voice in the game. Now as far as the story? It's very good and kept me enthralled for the most part, though if you're coming from it a day after getting through dark tide like me it can be a little monotonous as it kinda feels like retreading the same ground as the last book though in the case of this novel, it is understandable considering it's a novelization to a DLC for Warcraft 2. But, I cannot recommend this for someone who hasn't read or listened to Dark Tide as frankly, you won't have nearly enough attachment to know what's going on and to care. This book is very much intended for readers coming from its predecessor.

Amazing sequal,

The story is one of the best of the classic WoW. The narrator isn’t storytelling, she is reciting. Sigh.

What were you thinking Blizzard?

Christie is just not a good voice actor.

The story was also very bland. Mostly just Teralyon shouting a speech before fighting a seemingly endless amount of orcs, despite them constantly mentioning how there’s close to none left.

It’s a needed book to understand the overall sorry, but the spark notes would be more entertaining.

Just ok
