About this listen
Do you want to know a secret?
Beneath the very ground on which you walk and beyond the stars above your head are more worlds than you could ever dream of. There are monsters. Be afraid. Magic wielded by witches and sorcerers. Epic adventures in worlds far across the ocean. And fearsome weapons which threaten to destroy everything.
Jimmy Crikey is a brave soul who faces some pretty scary challenges. Solving mysteries and averting mayhem, his incredible courage allows him to free up his abilities to shine and rise above every challenge in his path on his way to discovering why he looks so very strange.
With a bright red mop of unruly hair, big blue eyes, a small snub nose, pointed ears, and enormous feet, poor Jimmy is ridiculed by the neighborhood children and runs away in search of a world where he fits in. Following a midnight flight through the forest, he stumbles into a lost, underground world called Roombelow, and magic, adventure, danger, and excitement await.
From the little lady who lives at the bottom of a well, a starship that wants to take him home, trolls, little people, traders, and diamonite stealers to water sprites, witches, helpful dolphins, and interplanetary warfare, Jimmy learns the biggest lessons of his life.

Story
It’s two months before Amelia’s big audition for the Mystwick School of Musicraft. If she gets in, she will learn to spin music into powerful magic - but her Gran has one last-ditch plan to persuade her out of it: sports camp. A week of softball, sprinting, and sweaty socks isn't exactly Amelia’s idea of a good time - in fact, she's deeply, appallingly unathletic. By the end of day one, she’s puked her guts out in track, gotten a black eye in no-contact flag football, and firmly established herself as the Least Valuable Player at camp.

SCINTILLATING STORY!
I listened to and loved this audiobook. Briggs touches on teenage emotion and bravery, promoting a positive view of and to the young, thus presenting the idea of a conscientious and responsible youth to those starting out on this seemingly perilous journey, echoed cleverly by the adventure that plays out center stage.

Definitely a good listen!
Briggs seamlessly weaves a story of a young, relatable character that tweens will root for. Briggs has laid the groundwork for a series within this novel and I look forward to more chapters in this series. This is a novel to listen to with the family.
I would recommend this book to fans of novels like the Percy Jackson series and fantasy fiction.
