Publisher's summary

New York Times bestseller Lisa Kleypas delights in the third book in the Bow Street series, an enthralling and steamy romance about the most seductive and dangerous rake in England tasked with finding a runaway bride—but when he finds her, will he be able to keep his feelings in check?

Nick Gentry, the most seductive and dangerous man in England, has been sent to find Charlotte Howard, a runaway bride who has disappeared without a trace. But when he finds her, Nick is stunned by the intensity of his attraction to the elusive young woman whose adventurous spirit matches his own.

Determined to escape a forced marriage to a man who will destroy her, Charlotte agrees to an audacious bargain . . . she will become Nick Gentry's bride. But soon she discovers that Nick has secrets of his own, and it will take all her wits and stubborn will to tame his tormented soul.

In the desperate quest to protect Charlotte from the diabolical aristocrat who threatens her, one thing becomes clear: to save the woman he loves, Nick will take any risk . . . and pay any price.

Turmulous relationships can be reconciled by true love.

Entertaining story that captured my interest to follow all the way through but somewhat predictable conclusion.

Okay Storyline If....

you enjoy this type of novel, Historical Romance, and stories written by Lisa Kleypas, Mary Balogh, etc., AND narrated by Rosalyn Landor you may enjoy this one. I listen to these stories while doing other things. I enjoy Landor's narration style. So, for me, historical romances are "easy listening" I enjoy the stories, and I can usually root for both the hero and the heroine's characters. This story deals with what we in today's world would label as pedophilia. An 18 year-old young woman "runs away" from her parents home because they want her to marry a man 30 years her senior. Since age 9, the man would visit the home and meet privately with the girl.... it seems that parents had legal rights to virtually exchange (sell) a daughter for money with the only snag in the exchange is the man can't claim the girl until she's 18 years old. All's well that ends well as these stories usually end on a happy note. .... Recommend

Wonderful as always

I loved this series! I love all Kleypas novels but enjoyed this series immensely. Didn’t enjoy the narration of Bow Street but the other two were great!

Another one bites the dust 😩

Oh LK what’s going on? I waited for the story to go somewhere but nothing. It was a bit tedious. So many times I wanted to stop listening but also wanted to keep giving it a chance. Oh well. Still enjoy your style.

Too much sex, too little plot, not a new book

I generally love Lisa Kleypas' books, not so much this one. The plot moved forward sex scene by sex scene. It was too much. I also didn't realize this was not a new book. I thought the narrator did an excellent job given what she was reading.

A really terrible book by my favorite suthor

The story starts with the hero losing his virginity in a brothel during a bondage session and the story plummets down hill from there.

The heroine is a Cypher. Her principle talent seems to be her beauty , and not her intelligence. When being pursued by an obsessive madman, her only recourse is to marry the hero who is a jerk with the excuse being that he had a difficult childhood. They discover love while having very unlikely adventures with highly unpleasant people, including her parents who seem to finance their lifestyle by selling their children.

It is every bit as unpleasant as it sounds.

Manipulative male lead

I understand some people like this trope but it reads really cringy this time. Probably my least favorite book from this author.

A reissued book- with Audible not flagging it

For yet another time, Audible did not note that this book was already in my library. It was reissued with a new cover & perhaps some other changes but Audible did not disclose these points & allow the customer to decide whether to repurchase the book at full price. Author should insist that Audible stop these deceptive sales practices. Otherwise, I liked the book when first read & recommend it.
