About this listen

When esteemed surgeon Dawn Fairchild is wrongly accused of vehicular manslaughter, her world is turned upside down. Sentenced to two years in a federal women's prison, Dawn encounters a side of life she didn't know existed. Caged with drug addicts, killers, and rapists, she is surprised when her knight in shining armor is a scrawny, scrappy redhead serving time for drug addiction and prostitution. A woman she couldn't bring herself to shake hands with for fear of touching her.

You will laugh, cry, and cheer for these two unlikely friends as they navigate the horrors of a prison ran by a no-nonsense warden with her own plans for Dr. Dawn Fairchild.

Prison Doctor

Doctor Dawn Fairchild is wrongfully convicted of vehicular manslaughter and sent to prison. She is terrified and only survives because of a scrawny red head. Lucky to be placed in the prison hospital they work to save themselves. Love Wade’s books.

Great Story

I really enjoyed the story, but only gave 4 stars because I didn’t really like the narrator. I thought she had a very breathy sounding voice throughout the whole book when that should have been reserved for the romantic bedroom scenes. Overall I really enjoyed the book and have already listened to it twice.

Very entertaining and enjoyable

One of the things I like about Erin Wade’s books is one that should annoy me: they’re often over the top. Too much is happening, there’s too much drama. But the way the stories are told makes it okay. With so much happening, Wade’s books are never boring, they’re action-packed page-turners and this one is no exception. Very entertaining and enjoyable.

Not what I expected

I totally enjoy all of Erin Wade's books, and this one is no exception. I liked the story and the couple of twists that were there. My only real problem was the bad guy. I knew it was coming but I really hoped it wouldn't. I did like this book and the audio was fantastic thanks to the velvety voice of Victoria Mei.

This book was a train wreck but in a good way.

Have you ever passed an accident on the road that is just horrible and you know you shouldn't look but can't help yourself? I think that applies to the audible version of this book. It truly was a train wreck but I could walk away from it. The narrator has a sexy voice and it is appealing but all female characters sounded alike and if there were a heated part if the book with yelling the narrator still read in her low sexy voice. like I said I could not stop reading it. I felt really bad for the warden, she did not have to be the bad person and. the writer should have let her find love in spite of what she said on the stand. I really did not like that part at all. I would recommend this book to others and I would read it with an open mind.

good book with caveat

good book, great performance by the narrator. I could have done without the casual transphobia though (removed 1 star for it).

Could have been alot better.

I feel like there were a whole series of books outlined then crammed into one. the story itself was interesting and engaging. With a good bit of suspension of disbelief, I had no problems with the story for the majority. My big hairy problem was how the author handled Val.
First of all; after the trial, Val had almost zero reaction to her sister's death. Any negative feelings she had were about her lie at court that sent the doctor to prison. in the majority she seems like a wonderful person who's doing the best with the situation she has. She's also a sympathetic character to anyone who's had unrequited feelings for someone they know that had no business feeling for. I had alot of hope for Val. she was going to find love and figure out that there was more out there than her reputation. but alas the author decided to "clean up" by making her one of the bad guys at the very end to get her out of the way of the main relationship.

Swing and a Miss

I normally like Erin Wade books. Not this one. The main character’s prison experience was just too far from the mark for me to suspend disbelief. I also had trouble understanding how she ends up in a federal prison for a non-federal charge. And this federal facility is run by a state-paid warden???
If you are better at suspending disbelief then go for it.
The narration was good as always!
