About this listen

Instant number one best seller

This revelatory and inspiring book will change the way we view failure and help us build resilience from the New York Times million-copy best-selling author of The Book of Awesome series and The Happiness Equation, thought leader for the next generation, and one of the most popular TED speakers in the world.

Why is life getting harder instead of easier?

How do I get back up after life knocks me down?

And how do I grow stronger and live more intentionally?

We are lucky. For most of us, famine, plague, economic depression, and other life-threatening catastrophes are the stuff of history books. We’re living in an era with the highest-ever rates of longevity, education, and wealth. Cars drive us home as our phones entertain us before we arrive to food delivered to the front door. We have it all! But there’s just one side effect. We no longer have the tools to handle failure or even perceived failure. When we fall, we lie on the sidewalk crying. When we spill, we splatter. When we crack, we shatter. We are turning into an army of porcelain dolls. A rude email from the boss means calling in sick. Only two likes on our post means we don’t have friends. Cell phones show us we’re never good enough. Yesterday’s butterflies are tomorrow’s panic attacks. Record numbers of students have clinical anxiety. And what about depression, loneliness, and suicide? All rising! What do we desperately need to learn? Resilience. And we need to learn it fast. Listen to You Are Awesome to learn:

  • The single word that keeps your options open after failure
  • What every commencement speech gets wrong
  • Three ways to dramatically accelerate your ability to learn and adapt
  • The two-minute morning practice that helps eliminate worry
  • Why you need an untouchable day (and how to get one)
  • And much, much more

Because the truth is, you really are awesome.

Awesome ideas from this book

The book was beautifully narrated. Glad it was done by Neal himself. There are several elements I will implement.

Outstanding. Loved it. Truly AWESOME.

Neil crushed it in this fun, funny, and uplifting book. Not only did it make me feel good, it was loaded with practical tools that each of us can embrace. I borrowed two tactics - a daily 2-minute ritual and a weekly "untouchable day", and both really made an impact in my life. Neils writing is casual, warm, and never preachy. He's also humble and self deprecating, which makes the book especially easy to read. That said, it wasn't cliche. The book delivers terrific stories with practical application. Highly recommend reading this one... Pasricha's best work yet!

awesome!!

I loved this book and all of Neil's insights on enjoying the simple things and always moving forward and having the courage to fail and keep going.

however, I will say, I listened to this right after his other book on audible called how to get back up and it felt about 90% identical, so my only recommendation is don't buy both lol.

This BOOK is awesome

There is SO MUCH GOOD in this book. I listened to it because I needed a pick-me-up while I was driving, and I like the author's voice as well; it felt like a personal conversation. I can't wait to find his other books and grab them as well.

Two things that I will mention, that I really want to remember - Add a ... to the end of things when you hit one of those speedbumps or big changes in life. It's not the end, it's just a pause that's waiting for the rest of the sentence. And then the story of the wise farmer who said "We'll see" every time something amazingly good or seemingly horribly bad happened.

So much good...I'm going to buy the print version as well.

This book is awesome!

The voice over gave much character but beyond that Neil had really insightful things to say and I think everyone should read this book.
