About this listen

When six book influencers take a weekend getaway to connect with their fellow creators, it’s meant to be a chance to relax, collaborate, and discuss all of the books they love. But from the start, something’s clearly amiss.

From the host’s mysterious absence and an unexpected guest to an odd occurrence in town and the strange and worrisome behavior of the neighbors, what starts out as an innocent and lively vacation quickly becomes a weekend filled with terror. And when one of the group members believes they see something horrifying at the house next door, their carefully laid plans begin to unravel.

Drawn into a mystery that runs far deeper and is more sinister than they could’ve imagined—and surrounded by those who refute their story—the group struggles to unearth the truth about the house and the couple next door before it’s too late. As new questions and shocking revelations surface, the group must decide if they can trust each other—not only with their safety in the house but also with their lives entirely.

Listeners’ worst nightmares come to life in this terrifying new thriller that tests the limits of friendship, explores the power of social media influence, digs into the depths of trust, and examines the desperate and dangerous lengths of obsession.

Story was tedious and pedestrian.

The reader tried too hard. She was overly dramatic and her vote for some characters was screeching and hysterical when it wasn’t called for.

Don’t Waste Your Money On This One

I typically really enjoy stories from this author but this wasn’t very good. The storyline was terrible. The narrator didn’t bother me as much as some of the other people but I wish I could have the 6 hours and money back.

Narrator is horrible

The story was good. The narrator was atrocious. She was overly dramatic when "in character," to the point where it was difficult to listen to. I was almost embarrassesd for her. She wasn't too bad until she was speaking in character. It was overdone and way too dramatic to be believable or even enjoyable to listen to. Just awful.

Boring book, horrible narration

This book is boring. I can't see for the life of me how this is classified as suspenseful. And the narration? OMG. Fingernails on a chalkboard. Total waste of time and credit. I used to pre-order/buy every book by this author. Unless I see several 4-5 star reviews, i will never purchase a book by this writer again.

Not good at all

The story was ridiculous and simple. The narration was terrible.
May be the worst book I’ve read in a long time.

Just terrible

This was not good. I have given 3 and 4 stars to some of the other books by this author. The narrator would have been okay had she only narrated one person. She sounds like a valley girl for all the other voices including the guys. Just weird and annoying to listen to. I did not like any of the characters and I am suprised I even finished this and disappointed I wasted money on this.

Disappointing

I've read some very enjoyable books by Kiersten Modglin; unfortunately, this was not one of them.
It was a fast story that dragged interminably despite an audio performance so breathlessly intense that it gave me anxiety. The portrayal of the vapid book bloggers was annoying and tiresome. Most of the characters were one-dimensional, and their dialogue reflected that.
