About this listen
Forest bathing is a gentle, meditative practice of connecting with nature. Simply being present with all of our senses, in a forest or other wild area, can produce mental, emotional, and physical health benefits. It is a simple, accessible antidote to our nature-starved lives and can inspire us to become advocates for healing our relationships with the more-than-human world.
This book is both an invitation to take up the practice of forest bathing and an inspiration to connect with nature as a way to help heal both the planet and humanity.
Forest Therapy is a research-based framework for supporting healing and wellness through immersion in forests and other natural environments. In Japan, forest bathing is known as shinrin-yoku. Studies there have demonstrated a wide variety of health benefits, especially in the cardiovascular and immune systems, and for stabilizing and improving mood and cognition.
In Your Guide to Forest Bathing, Amos Clifford draws on four decades of wilderness experience to introduce readers to the medicine of being in the forest. Learn about the roots of the practice, how to deepen your relationship to nature, and how to begin a practice of your own. Practical matters such as finding a suitable trail and what to bring are also included.

We live in the age of speed. We strain to be more efficient, to cram more into each minute, each hour, each day. Since the Industrial Revolution shifted the world into high gear, the cult of speed has pushed us to a breaking point. Consider these facts: Americans on average spend 72 minutes of every day behind the wheel of a car, a typical business executive now loses 68 hours a year to being put on hold, and American adults currently devote on average a mere half hour per week to making love.

Welcome to the Universe is a personal guided tour of the cosmos by three of today's leading astrophysicists. Inspired by the enormously popular introductory astronomy course that Neil deGrasse Tyson, Michael A. Strauss, and J. Richard Gott taught together at Princeton, this book covers it all - from planets, stars, and galaxies to black holes, wormholes, and time travel.

In The Butchering Art, the historian Lindsey Fitzharris reveals the shocking world of 19th-century surgery on the eve of profound transformation. She conjures up early operating theaters - no place for the squeamish - and surgeons, working before anesthesia, who were lauded for their speed and brute strength. They were baffled by the persistent infections that kept mortality rates stubbornly high. A young, melancholy Quaker surgeon named Joseph Lister would solve the deadly riddle and change the course of history.

The OG that many have since tried to imitate!
This is a small practical treasure in the act of bathing with forests.
You would do well at start here and come back again and again even after the popular fluff on the subject that seems to be in vogue.

Solid Nonfiction Title
The narrator does a good solid nonfiction narration, clear and varied enough, and both topic and narration held my interest. Sometimes with self-development themed titles with lots of activities and suggestions, I find that although I enjoy the audio, I'd like to have access to the print book as well, and I did feel that way with this one.

Brilliant, playful, deep and full of possibility!
What a journey! I hope people really do take this book with them into the forest. May we all find healing and build relationships of reciprocity as we find our way between the chaos world and the wilderness with tenderness and love. Forest Therapy as defined by Anos Clifford, founder of ANFT, is such a beautiful and powerful practice with potent potential for all who are willing to open their hearts and bodies. Do yourself a favor and read this book. Then read it again. Then pass it on to a friend.
