About this listen

The definitive—and by far the most popular—guide to the therapeutic Japanese practice of shinrin-yoku, or the art and science of how trees can promote health and happiness.

Notice how a tree sways in the wind. Run your hands over its bark. Take in its citrusy scent. As a society, we suffer from nature deficit disorder, but studies have shown that spending mindful, intentional time around trees—what the Japanese call shinrin-yoku, or forest bathing—can promote health and happiness.

In this beautiful audiobook, Dr. Qing Li, the world's foremost expert in forest medicine, shows how forest bathing can reduce your stress levels and blood pressure, strengthen your immune and cardiovascular systems, boost your energy, mood, creativity, and concentration, and even help you lose weight and live longer.

Once you've discovered the healing power of trees, you can lose yourself in the beauty of your surroundings, leave everyday stress behind, and reach a place of greater calm and wellness.

enjoying the naturescape

I have been incorporating nature based themes to my practice with children for over twenty years. Enjoyed the intricate way nature is woven into wellness in this audible. Enjoy (if you are in to the practicality of nature/wellness).

Nature Deficit Disorder

Such a great read to remind us of the importance of nature to our health. Take our shoes off and feel the grass and energy of the earth beneath our feet! I was persuaded to purchase because I loved the word Shinrin-yoku, and it was worth the buy. Will be purchasing in hard copy and looking into how to join the Japanese society for forest medicine.

It works.

Kind of a slow start, but if you stay with it, Dr. Li will have you back out in the woods on a regular basis with a new understanding of how important trees are -- to personal healing and the health of the whole world. I myself am experiencing mental and physical renewal at 71 years old, and the information in this book is helping me understand how and why. I recommend this book to anyone.
