The world's first and longest magical fantasy HOSHRUBA (1883-1893) was compiled in the Urdu language in Lucknow by two of its greatest story-tellers, Syed Muhammad Husain Jah and Ahmed Husain Qamar, wrote a fantasy in the Urdu language whose equal had not been heard before, and which has never been rivaled since. It was called Tilism-e Hoshruba. The writers claimed that the tale had been passed down to them from storytellers going back centuries: It was a part of the beloved oral epic, The Adventures of Amir Hamza which had come to the Indian subcontinent via Persia.

About the author: Krishan Chander (1914-1977) was an Urdu/Hindi writer of short stories and novels. He was a prolific writer, penning over 20 novels, 30 collections of short stories and scores of radio plays in Urdu and later, after partition of the country, took to writing mainly in Hindi. He also wrote screenplays for Bollywood movies to supplement his meager income as an author of satirical stories. Krishan Chander's novels have been translated into over 16 Indian languages and some foreign languages, including English.

Sawar aur doosray Afsanay is the first collection of short stories by Shamsur Rahman Faruqui. The theme of this collection of stories is the Indian culture of that time, narrated through 18th-century Delhi. The 18th century has probably been the most controversial in India's history of the last thousand years. According to the historiography that makes up the consciousness of modern India, it was an age of decadence and arrogance. Intizar Hussain is recognized as the greatest contemporary Pakistani Urdu fiction writer. Among his numerous awards is a nomination for the Man Booker International Prize in 2013. Asad Muhammad Khan was born in Bhopal, India, in 1932. He now lives in Karachi, has written a number of television plays, and published five collections of short stories to date. This collection includes the following stories: "Narbada", "Dastaan Sarae", "Shehr Koofay Ka Mehez Aik Aadmi", and "Toofaan Ke Markaz Me".
