A deceptively simple, but in fact timeless, universal and profound story by Mary Raymond Shipman Andrews about a young man making personal amends for having disappointed everyone around him, from family to school - and, perhaps most importantly, himself. It moves us and makes us think with the simplicity, charm and clarity of an old, fable-like tale.

This piece by Robert F. Young is all about the fascinating topic of time travel and the possibility of there being many copies of oneself in doing the traveling! The present year is 2178 and time travel has been illegalized. One highly skilled time traveler, Tom Mallory, decides to steal the Holy Grail, so as to be able to see out the rest of his days in prosperity. Of course, things will prove to be not so easy.

Our hero, Code Schofield, is quite in a predicament: he has lost his boat in an Atlantic gale a while back, and finds himself presently viewed upon with disdain and suspicion both by his community off the coast of New Brunswick, and by insurance investigators... Has our hero something to hide? This is a wonderfully atmospheric and suspenseful tale by Frank Williams for aficionados of sea and mystery!

Helen Hardwick, our heroine, is the sole witness to a part of a very mysterious murder, happening during a performance of a play she has herself written. There are not many clues, mostly just disturbing details, such as a chilling laughter that she keeps hearing... Could the mysterious and dangerous figure of the Grey Phantom be involved in this in any way, good or bad?

This is a gently self-deprecating, ironic and often warmly, sadly humorous tale by Roswell Field of a widower's last shot at happiness in love... It is narrated in the first person, that being John, a well to do and preserved (according to himself) reasonably well-preserved middle-aged widower. John falls for a much younger person - a person, while delightful, not entirely unproblematic: she is the orphaned daughter of his very first love.

Meet Edgar Braine, our accomplished main character, is the editor of a local newspaper and a politician. A diligent and centered man, having followed his old mother's advice on leading a good, ethical life; he now faces a bit of a dilemma where a caveat, a warning from his mother, might come in very handy, possibly saving him from a personal disaster.

A great, classic combination of action, love, atmosphere and personal dilemmas of the characters make this Western something to really enjoy. The story involves three main protagonist, two men and a woman; who get in to something of a triangle drama of the heart and the conscience. Set mainly in the remote harshness of Canada and the lumberjack community. Ridgwell Cullum, pseudonym of Sidney Groves Burghard, (1867-1943) was a British writer of many adventure novels often set in sparsely populated regions of the USA or Canada.

Welcome to the dangerous and rugged world of the breathtakingly majestic landscape of western Canada! Our main character, Jimmy, doesn't know whether or not he shot and killed a Northwest Mounted while he was hunting with his friends. What follows is a well-told tale by Harold Bindloss of escape and survival of our protagonist, in an unfamiliar and particularly challenging and unforgiving environment.

The listener is introduced to the detective Quentin Locke (based on Houdini), who investigates a cartel protected by a robot called the Automaton and the members of which use a gaseous weapon called Madagascar madness!! The hero is capable of getting himself freed of some of the strangest and most dangerous situations... This is a humorous, fast paced, high octane pulpy adventure by Arthur Benjamin Reeve for diehard fans of the genre!

A story which is both a horror and a New England time period piece by Eleanor M. Ingram. Roger Locke, a composer, buys a farm by a lake in Connecticut, to use as a country retreat... When he meets a mysterious woman at night, he starts getting haunted by a dark force from the lake that claims to own the woman. Does the mysterious lady want to help or to harm? Superb atmosphere and suspense.

This story by Alice Muriel Williamson has its feet firmly planted in a mix of genres, and manages to thrill and entertain in equal measure. A woman in distress, a handsome hero, a dangerous villain, physical action, psychological suspense and real scares all cohabit in this classic tale with quite a bit of a gothic feel to it: "Never, it seemed to me, had I seen a habitation so grim, so silently suggestive of haunting, evil things... The wind moaned through the trees like the wail of a lost soul."

The listener gets transported into a world filled with action, travel, betrayal and greed. The story is complicated and multifaceted involving a journey across the sea, different countries and a potential revolution; but the core of it is of our hero rescuing his girl and trying to find the famous treasure of Eldorado. Our brutal and forceful "hero" gets assigned to run a work camp filled with foreigners. Will he attend to business in his usual alpha male ways, or could he possibly crack?

In this complicated romance, we follow the two main characters from their childhood through to adulthood, all the way experiencing all the many, many challenges and opposing forces to their union. The heroine of this piece, aptly named Conscience; is forced to take on a mighty giant - the puritanical values instilled by her father (a minister) and the society of the older generation - in order to thrive in life as well as in love.

A vivid and unforgettable portrayal by James Brendan Connolly of the hard lives of New England fishermen... The tough skipper of a vessel is working his crew extremely hard. So hard that one member pays with his life. A close friend of the deceased fisherman decides to take his place on board the vessel. Will he survive, facing off with both the skipper and the sea? An absorbing, thought-provoking but also marvelously entertaining Western novel by Katharine Newlin Burt. The audiobook manages to make the listener think and feel in equal measure! A kind of post-apocalyptical take by Ellis Meredith on the biblical tale of Adam and Eve, if you will. Only two people have survived a cataclysmic disaster on earth, a man called Adam and a woman called Robin. Will these two decide to try to repopulate the earth? Is it even worth it, considering what happened and how human history has "evolved"? A great blend of fantasy elements and philosophical contemplations makes this work stand out.

A classic and hilarious comedy gem. Filmed many times, with great popular success. The complicated storyline involves a rich businessman's son, Travers, who learns of a planned burglary of his house and decides to dress himself up as a policeman to confront the legendary criminal (and also to alleviate his own boredom)... From here on things get really complicated and funny, as the criminal pretends to be Travers and as the criminal's girlfriend shows up; also believing him to be Travers!

This work by Harriet Theresa Comstock is filled with the air and waves of the sea! It richly inhabits the environment, just as its characters do, as well as relying on each other in tough spots. An old-fashioned story of life in a coastal town on Long Island. All is centered around a lighthouse and a life saving station, where Cap'n Billy Daddy works. He also takes care of Janet, whose mother is out of the picture.

Two brothers and a female cousin live in a remote cabin in the wilderness. The oldest brother is hiding from the law because of murder, so the younger brother has to do the trading in town (they are trapping for a living). One day, while Hugh (the convict) leaves the cabin, he meets a girl who is sun blind. He falls in love and uses her temporary blindness to his advantage. The only problem is that his younger brother, Pete, falls for her too.
