She was an impulsive, fashionable, and carefree 1920's woman who embodied the essence of the Gatsby Girl, F. Scott Fitzgerald's wife, Zelda. As Fitzgerald said, "I married the heroine of my stories." All of the eight short stories contained in this collection were inspired by Zelda. Fitzgerald, one of the foremost writers of American fiction, found early success as a short story writer for the most widely read magazine of the early 20th century - The Saturday Evening Post.

Three of Fitzgerald's early short stories: "Dalyrimple Goes Wrong", "Jemina, the Mountain Girl", and "Tarquin of Cheapside". Each story is fascinating in its own way, with roots that lead to his novels. His writing, even at this early stage in his career, is like champagne. "Dalyrimple" has some of the themes Dreiser later used in An American Tragedy; "Jemina" sounds like what would happen if Mark Twain met southwestern humor; "Tarquin" is unique and better listened to than discussed.

F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote many wonderful romantic and realistic short stories and a few incredible "on the edge" fantasy and supernatural stories. Although the story of "Benjamin Button" is quite different than the 2009 movie, the premise is the same - a man is born old and lives his life backwards! Fizgerald says he got the idea from Mark Twain's remark that it was a pity that the best part of life came at the beginning and the worst part at the end.
