About this listen

"Bella's mouth fell open in astonishment. She'd never seen two men kiss, and had never heard of such a thing, but a warming prickle between her thighs told her she approved wholeheartedly."

When young, 18th-century lady Bella Rushdale finds herself fiercely attracted to handsome landowner Lucerne Marlinscar, she does not expect the rival for her affections to be another man. However, the handsome and decadent Marquis Pennerley has desired Lucerne for years, and when they are brought together at the remote Lauwine Hall for a country party on the Yorkshire Moors, he intends to claim him. This leads to a passionate struggle for dominance, at the risk of scandal, between the highly sexed Bella and the debauched aristocrat. Ultimately it will be Lucerne who will choose the outcome, and his decision will be bound to upset somebody's plans.

No Exit

In this book, a handful of London's social elite spend an extended vacation together behaving just horribly but somehow having lots of orgasms in the process. Had there been one character in the book that I could truly care about - I might have been able to enjoy something about this hastily crafted non-story. But either everyone in it is repulsive or the female lead's repulsiveness contaminates them all into appearing so. The good news is, it takes more than predictable and unconvincing sex to entertain me. If the same is true of you, I think you should keep shopping.

Hot, Steamy and Different

Bored with romance novels and the simpering fidelity and overly flowery language therein? So was I so I ventured into erotica. The price of the ticket was well worth it.

Like many heterosexual females I'm intrigued by two men, or a woman and two men. If you're not stay away for there is that aplenty.

It's probably some of the best writing I've ever seen in any category. Believable well rounded characters, really well researched 18th century speech and clothing as well as settings, and plenty of steaminess. Ms. Ellis makes you wait for every encounter and builds the anticipation. So when it comes, wow. All I can say is wow.

A must read for the enlightened female!

Everything Erotica

What did you love best about A Gentleman's Wager?

I enjoyed this listen, I love a good story besides a good erotic book. This book had a good story and make no mistake it is not for the light erotic reader. It is worth mentioning that the narrator was perfectly suited for this book. I looked for additional titles from this author~ nothing~ I hope there is a work in process.

What about Betsy Garden’s performance did you like?

Perfect use of her vocal gifts. Perfect inflection of each characters distinct persona through her vocal tone. I am going to see what else Besty narrorated.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I began and had to discontinue my listen for

Not bad

This book isn't as bad as what people are saying. There is actually a story line. I think most ppl are just unable to imagine that ppl could be so easy back in time. I really enjoyed this!!

Save your money!

The only redeeming factor about this book is the character Von. If it wasn't for his humor and extreme sexiness, I would have stopped listening halfway in. The main character was just dirty. Not erotic sexy dirty either. I mean dirty like a disease ridden trollop. If you are looking for a delicious regency period erotic journey...This isn't the book.

good

This was a fun steamy read in the tradition of Fanny Hill. Eighteenth century wenches that were romping in the meadows. The Maquis Pen was rather entertaining in his rompings.
