About this listen

Media consultant Veronica St. John has been hired to teach a rugged Navy SEAL to impersonate a European prince who's been targeted by terrorists. But one conversation and Veronica knows there's no way she can turn streetwise New Yorker Joe Catalanotto into nobility. Joe, on the other hand, is confident he's got what it takes. Two days isn't a lot of time to get the job done...but it's enough time to fall in love.

I continually forget to check out Suzanne Brockmann but when I do she is SO ON POINT! I love her simple sometimes edgy writing that paints a vivid picture! She not brash but sassy in getting her readers to go along for the "reader ride". I enjoy that. I would love a Prince Joe and the way Ms. Brockmann writes this wonderful book, she can make you feel like you get one.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Been there, done that. I am just foolish enough to believe that if I enjoyed it, so would everyone else.

What did you like best about this story?

Can't pinpoint any one thing. With the possible exception of the way she presents the military hero. Because they are

What does Ashley Adlon bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

To answer this question, I would have had to read this book, and I didn't. But, I will say I enjoyed her reading of it.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, when Joe fooled them all.

WOW

If you could sum up Prince Joe in three words, what would they be?

This book is a charming fantasy and the fact that it doesn't have an ounce of verisimilitude doesn't detract from its appeal.

What did you like best about this story?

That the hero and the heroine wind up at the end reunited and eager to get married "for ever after".

Which character – as performed by Ashley Adlon – was your favorite?

I thought Ashley Adlon did a good job performing all the characters in the story.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Fairy tales come true.

Any additional comments?

Since I had so much fun listening to Prince Joe, I am sure that I will listen soon to another book by Suzanne Brockmann.

A delightful romance

#1 Rule for male readers when reading military romance novels is to try to get the terminology and basic details correct.

Example - dropping 100 pound bombs. Most are 500 or 1500 pounds. There were several in the first couple of chapters but after that, the book picked up.

#2 Rule for male readers - the constant head communication, some lasting several minutes yet the elapsed time is only a second or two, gets overwhelming. I know that many female readers live it but I cannot understand why (which is OK as I can just skip forward 10-20 seconds at a time).

I did enjoy the story and am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Decent Start to the series!

This is one of my favorite books. I have read it 4 times & finally purchased the audio. Suzanne Brockmann’s Seal Team series is fantastic.

One of my favorites

I have listened to all the Troubleshooter series and have enjoyed them immensely so I figured the Tall, Dark and Dangerous series would be next. I realize that this was the beginning of Suzanne’s writing career so there may be more rough edges, but she did a wonderful job in creating a simple romance story. The characters did have some prejudices that were a little annoying but I enjoyed the story and will finish listening to the remaining series. The narrater was pretty good, but her accents were not well done and a bit distracting.

A good beginning.

I liked it fine but the lady character really got on my nerves. I didn’t care for that character but I did enjoy the romance.

It was okay

This book seemed like it should be good but for some reason it just didn't click for me. I think part of it was the narration and accents used. It may also have been that while the premise was a bit different, the 'problems' faced by the couple were far too cliche. Lack of communication, easy (realistic) changes to wording, etc would have gotten them smoothly through their personal issues and cut about 30 minutes off the book's length. I also found it somewhat lacking in the 'sex scene' department. I definitely wouldn't consider this a 'steamy' romance. It did have a good ending and I don't think it was a complete waste of time and money. I'm not sure I'll buy any other books from the series though.

Not terribly impressive
