About this listen

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Vi Keeland comes a sexy new stand-alone novel.

The first time I met Chase Parker, I didn't exactly make a good impression. I was hiding in the bathroom hallway of a restaurant, leaving a message for my best friend to save me from my awful date. He overheard and told me I was a bitch, then proceeded to offer me some dating advice. So I told him to mind his own damn business and went back to my miserable date.

I couldn't help but sneak hidden glances at the condescending jerk on the other side of the room. Of course, he caught me on more than one occasion, and winked. When the gorgeous stranger and his equally hot date suddenly appeared at our table, I thought he was going to rat me out. But instead, he pretended we knew each other and joined us—telling elaborate, embarrassing stories about our fake childhood. My date suddenly went from boring to bizarrely exciting.

When it was over and we parted ways, I thought about him more than I would ever admit, even though I knew I'd never see him again. I mean, what were the chances I'd run into him again in a city with eight million people? Then again, what were the chances that a month later he'd wind up being my new sexy boss?

Tall, Dark and Handsome

Bossman really surprised me. I saw the cover and read the blurb and was not anticipating how meaty this story really is!

There is the hilarity that Vi Keeland is known for but also a seriously sweet romance between two people who have been traumatized by very unfortunate circumstances.

Hot and steamy is an understatement between this pair and I couldn't get enough of their banter and their "pretend history".

I feel like Maxine Mitchell doesn't even need any more accolades because she must have heard them all by now. She is a seasoned pro that brings any story to life and I know that no matter the content, Maxine will make it a good listen. There are cameos from Joe Arden but not a whole lot. Joe for me is the same as Maxine. Solid performance every time.

Pleasantly Surprised

I was introduced to this book on a FB book group. It was talked about so much I decided to check it out. And, even after all the chatter, I still was surprised. It was nothing like I expected. It was more. The characters were well developed, the story had depth to it and maturity. I really liked Vi Keeland's writing style and both narrators. I actually would have liked to hear more of Joe Arden. It was like he was only used for the flashbacks of the main male character? Often dual narrations can go wrong for me, too distracting. But, actually I thought these two would have done well together. Really nice listen. Thanks AF for all of the chatter!

To me funny

So I choose a book every January that I would read, las year picked a novel also that was a waist of money. But his one was funny, witty, gave some literary insight on novels but enjoys it laugh through the book. Don't get me wrong it had a story in it. So if you are looking for something different different and don't mind sexual narrative, you might want to hear it. So with this my unusual book of the year finished.

Just loved it!

I became so engrossed in this audiobook that I listened to it straight through! The love story was sweet and hot, while the backstory about Chase and his lost love was so sad. The ending make me get teary eyed. The narration was superb.

Great story!

Absolutely LOVED this book. The only reason I did not give 5 stars was because having the female narrator read so much of the Male parts really killed the mood at some points. Overall though it was great and I will definitely recommend!

I liked it

In reading the reviews, this book has few people in the middle. I thought the dialog between the main characters was flirty and fun. Their magnetism resulted in some hot and sexy interludes. There had to be a story to tie these events together and it was a bit tortured, as they usually are...otherwise there isn't a story, is there?
Maxine Mitchell is a star! I will begin seeking her out for listening.
I will listen/read more of Vi Keeland.

A Really Good Read

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Oh Yes.. My girl Bianca is getting this as a recommendation.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Chase and Reese both were my fave characters.. They had the right amount of everything.. Angst but not too much... Just the right amount of naivete and love...

Have you listened to any of Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have listened to both narrators before. This one was right up there with the rest of them. Good.. I like Maxine more so than Joe but Joe Arden is one of my top male narrators so it's a win/win.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The return to the restaurant..
