About this listen

Ollie:

Word of advice: Don't come out to random guys in public restrooms. Even if they're charming and adorably nerdy and offer to help.

My family believes I can't be happy if I'm not out to the world. I have a bitter ex-boyfriend and an unstable NHL career to show for it. A fake boyfriend seems like an easy and quick solution to get my family off my back, and this guy is volunteering. I take him up on it without asking his name.

I really should've asked for his name.

Lennon:

Word of advice: Learn how to introduce yourself properly. In my defense, I don't recognize Ollie Strömberg right away. I cover football, not hockey. I'm not supposed to see him again, and he's never supposed to find out I'm a reporter. That all changes when my editor reassigns me.

It's a lesson I should've learned by now. Nothing's changed since high school. Jocks still hate nerds. But even worse, athletes hate journalists. Especially ones who know their secret.

Contains mature themes.

Funny, relaxing and well written

This is one of my favourite books. The story is funny, no matter how many times I listen it I alway laugh out loud which is a bit embarrassing, when I'm doing it in public. :D The characters are funny, sometimes awkward (like in real life) and capable to learn and improve themselves. The narrators were able to catch the character's personality. I can just recommend this book to everyone.

enjoyed it

Would I listen to it again: yes
Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Was I invested in the characters: yes

Delightfully entertaining, I think of the series, this one is my favorite. Can't go wrong with the Hocky God and the Nerdy Journalist, this one felt lighter than the others and I enjoyed Ollie and Lennon's dynamic.

Narration comment: Both narrators are terrific on their own and do a great job on their respective characters chapters, but in my opinion dual narration is unnecessary for a M/M book. Either narrator would have been an excellent choice for the entire book, both narrators are excellent voice actors but I didn't like having 2 different voices for each character (it felt like there were 4 main characters instead of 2).

3.5 stars

Pretty good! Not the best, but worth the listen. I really liked both MCs. It was a bit slow at times, but ultimately I liked it.

3rd Book in the Series, and Still Unique & Loved

Think I almost loved this story better than the first two books in the series! It was sweeter, in a way

Opposites attract

I love this crew of friends. I adore Ollie, he is such a sweetheart, his & Lennon’s chemistry is great. I love how they work so hard to stay within technicalities. The friendship between them is sweet, I really like how they stand up for each other, and are totally gone for each other. This was another amazing story.

A hockey player and sports reporter... walk into a bar

Love; Love Love Ollie and Lennon! my favorite of the series, but seriously these two are freaking adorable by themselves AND together. Ollie's family is hilarious and the relationship of these guys with the others (in the series) is great. Found family groups are one of my favorite things in interconnected series and this series is among the best.
Iggy Toma and Alexander Cendese do a fantastic job with the narration as well. They are easy to listen to and do the story justice.

This Was a Fun Read

Totally laughed out loud
at the witty banter between the main characters and Ollie and his family. The narrators did a good job, though I have to admit I really get frustrated with Iggy and his constant slip into a wimpy Southern drawl.

Would read again

Well, it was a really good book. It does kinda suck that Lennon never got to top.

Opposites do attract!

Deke was a fun addition to the Fake Boyfriend Series. I enjoy the pairing of Alexander Cendese and Iggy Toma, especially in this book- the athlete and the nerd, they both played their parts well.
I liked Ollie and Lennon, they were cute together. There was some back and forth between them, as Ollie wasn't out, but I was happy it didn't cause a whole lot of conflict. I really liked the the ending, the way Ollie stood with a fellow hockey player in support, and was finally willing to own his truth as well.
