Publisher's summary

Her mind rejects his world. But her body knows its master.

Journalist Caroline Preston arrives at Serve, New York City's hottest BDSM club, with one goal - to hate it. If her brother wasn't trying to turn the family's respectable financial magazine into a publication that features "lifestyle" pieces for the wealthy and adventurous, she wouldn't even be there, trying to write an article about a world she doesn't understand.

But then she sees him.

Jonah Briggs doesn't leave his post for just anyone. As the owner of the club, his sole purpose is to ensure that his clientele get everything they need, but when he sees Caroline, his only thought is what he wants - to dominate the sexy little reporter and give the most exquisite pleasure she's ever experienced.

Caroline has no intention of entering that particular lion's den - not with her family's reputation at stake - no matter how dark, sexy, and complex the lion in question may be. But with every encounter, she craves more, and with every slide of his lips, she realizes Jonah might just be the man to break down all her defenses...if she'll let him.

Contains mature themes.

Spiciest Tessa Bailey book I've ever read!

5 / 5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
4 / 5 🌶 🌶 🌶 🌶
Spicy chapters: 4, 6, 9, 12, 13, 19

Jonah (MMC) and Caroline (FMC).

This is possibly the hottest TB book I've ever read! And trust me, I've read most of them.

Jonah is a gentleman's club owner 😏 , and he falls head over heels over Caroline (insta-love). She's in the club as a customer / journalist, as she's planning to write a story about what happens inside. The story has a bit of "Fifty Shades Of Grey" vibes, as Jonah introduces the kink world to Caroline.

I love the fact that TB always adds a certain depth and dimension to the characters in her books.
I.e. Jonathan is a father who wishes to have a relationship with his estranged 8 year old daughter.
Meanwhile, Caroline is struggling to find a balance between wanting to know more about Johan and his world but also dreads anyone finding out about their relationship.

This story is a rollercoaster in the best sense. You can feel the passion, desire, temptation, tension, angst... and there is plenty of spice! 🌶 🌶 🌶

Happy reading! 📚

Eh

Not my favorite Tessa Bailey book. The series starter story was interesting, but not what I expected. The narrorator was hard to follow. The BDSM club seemed to just be background noise.

Disappointing

The MFC is weak in most ways. She is strong in what she does but contradicts herself by being too concerned about pleasing her father and stifling her sexual wants afraid of what others might think. She says she was objective and didn’t include her own thoughts in the article but that is false because she wouldn’t have written the article the way she did if it did include her thoughts. Weak. The other reviews say to last until chapter 7 and it gets better but I’m on chapter 10 and still waiting.

Relatable and Spicy

I appreciate the trope of the FMC being a strong powerful woman who also enjoys giving up control in the bedroom. The spice was HOT and the characters were well developed and lovable.

Haven't finished yet, but had to write a review

I'm on chapter 7, hoping I'll be able to update or add later. I came to this book because of Katee Robert. If you're a fan of hers, you'll understand.

I have to admit that the first chapter's narration is cringy. So much so, that I came rushing to read reviews, wondering why I downloaded the title. Don't pay attention to those reviews.

I then went to Amazon to look up the title, try and return it. I read the reviews there too. Those reviews made me give it a second chance. If you can make it to chapter 2, you'll enjoy it.

The author definitely could've chosen wiser on a narrator (no offense - just the tone and reading) but overall, it picks up and the story line is SO GOOD.

Jonah is a great character. I'm still figuring out Caroline, but I'm loving it.

Performance felt juvenile and robotic

The narrator left the story feeling more juvenile than I prefer for an adult themed book.
I also felt the story could have been developed a little better. Felt rushed.

Narration Could Be Better

Story isn't too bad though the narrator sometimes speaks like she's unsure when a sentence is ending. It's confusing when a chapter suddenly ends and there was no final cue from the narrator. Also the male voice needs some work. It just sounded off and unsure. I really like Tessa Bailey's books but this one needed more depth and detail. I didn't fall in love with the characters like I usually do.
