Publisher's summary

A comprehensive and instructional guide to the new sexual landscape, covering “new territories” such as bondage, role playing, and sex toys that would make your parents blush.

Since the publication of The Joy of Sex in 1972, the sexual landscape’s boundaries have been expanded to include a host of practices that are unthinkable in that classic tome. Although it also covers the basics, The Boudoir Bible fills those niches missing from other sex guides nicely, with full elaborated chapters on rope bondage, restraints of sound and sight, erotic flagellation, and the stimulation of new erogenous zones, among innumerable other offerings.

Well-researched, The Boudoir Bible is written from a joyful, sex-positive point of view. Going beyond the “lovemaking” of older guides, this witty and uninhibited tome expands the sexual act to encompass “verboten” topics, with chapters entitled “The Genital Gym,” “Nipple Tease,” “Male Ejaculation Control,” and “The Anthems of Anal Sex. The Boudoir Bible provides a fresh view of sexuality in the twenty-first century.

The bonus pdf includes illustrations by the renowned artist François Berthoud, whose provocative creations have graced both Prada campaigns and museum exhibitions.

It’s so very lovely to hear this book in Betony Vernon’s own voice. Her sex positive approach to sex education is an enjoyable listen

Information Needs Updating

This book is likely intended for the sexual neophyte, which someone with little to no sexual experience, who may be curious as to what the book has to offer in terms of guidance. Unfortunately, some of the information isn’t accurate. For example, the statement that “size does not matter’ when it comes to penis size has been debunked years ago by a national anonymous survey of women from nearly all walks of life. Since the survey was anonymous, these women answered the question about their penile size preference. Over 80% stated they prefer a size of at least 8 inches. But if the guy doesn’t have it, they needed girth to compensate if he comes up short. “Side doesn’t matter” is a myth. Another issue I found was the author’s blanket statements made about porn, as if it is generally all the same. It’s not. Some of what she says just isn’t accurate. There is also a glaring contradiction among the items on her list of myths about porn. In summary, there is just better literature on the market offering guidance in sexual education and exploration. I do not recommend this book.
