I don't mean to be dismissive of anyone's writing skill/style but I found this book...I don't want to say boring because whoever did Sharkgirl was seriously on point! Absolutely loved her, and the voice actor totally brought her to vivid life.
Perhaps I've gotten too used to litrpg where there's some form of danger or consequences, but this book really had very little danger or implied consequences and to be honest...I kinda missed it. I'm only halfway through the book and it's only livened up when Rishi (Sharkgirl) gets airtime.
I've come to find that some books are better read rather than listen too as something gets lost between the two different mediums. Just like some books come to life via audible rather than via the black and white pages of a book.
I'm not going to say this was a horrible book because it's not. It's exactly what it says on the cover, a cozy isekai book.

Get this: you wake up in the hospital. You're not feeling so hot—to put it mildly—and also, you're surrounded by hordes of zombies! After trying to run away, you eventually find a map of the building, but guess what? It's in French! Why? 'Cuz you're in France! You've got nothing on you but a baseball bat, and the zombies are just one step away from biting you on your bare backside. But don't worry, there's still hope, because you've got your own personal shelter in spacetime.

For those who do not enjoy harems, this book is chock full of definite harem accents.
I'm not going to knock this book just because the MC is a misogynist jerk, because the world building it novel and the plot is awesome.
But be warned that the MC is not a hero (which is perfectly fine) and makes no bones about the fact that he's not a hero. What he is, is a man trying to survive after waking in the midst of a zombie apocalypse.
Concept - 5 - Great
world – 4
Story- 4
Character – 1 unrepentant misogynist
Character progr. - 2 perhaps he will become better? I don't know and will not be interested in finding out
Dialogue – great dialogue
writing – awesome
conflict– will he survive or will he fail to secure his little world.
Overall rating = 4
Comment: Read at your own risk, rated for misogyny and harem

Story
An experimental ASI with a terminal case of curiosity reached out and tampered with the universe in a way that it should not have, and unleashed a torrent of energy we would call magic into our galaxy. Humans, and every other intelligent lifeform for that matter, were ill-prepared, physically and mentally, for such an eventuality. In an effort to save itself, the ASI hastily created something it called the Framework to shape and codify this magical energy, and usher in a new world. A world of classes, levels, and extraordinary power. But also a world of monsters.

Warning: HAREMLIT
Reviewed: 01-29-24
Because this wasn't clear in the blurb, I just wanted to make sure others don't miss the fact that this is HAREMLIT.
While the male narrator was okay, the female narrator provided little inflection in her speaking.
The overall story was good, enjoyable but I won't purchase the 2nd book as this is haremlit.

He wants nothing but to farm in the real world, and he's given that chance in a VRMMORPG. With a new lease on life, he accepts it. Good, but...
Reviewed: 01-23-24
The MC is kinda stupid. I realize in the storyline he's pretty old and don't really know about the game, but that doesn't excuse his stupidity.
People try to give him advice but he, somehow, does not listen. Even near the ending, someone tells him there will be consequences and yet, he blithely goes ahead. He's, like, the embodiment of 'eff around and find out!'.
So yea, I love base building, but I really don't know about this. I may continue to read, if only to see if the MC gets any smarter.

Good story, not so good narration
Reviewed: 11-14-23
First, I love a 'good' sentient dungeon story; however, this story is told in a voice that is. frankly, uninspiring. I was, in fact, turned off, the entire series due to the narration of the story. Additionally, I have a sneaking suspicion that even if I read the book I would have a problem with the effort by the author to be 'cute' and the stilted language.
As for the narrator, all the men and women sound much the same; the words come out as just...words with almost no inflection or very little emoting on the part of the narrator.
And everyone giggles. Grown-azz people...giggling. Not laughing, not chortling, not snickering/sniggering...but honest to god giggling.
For what it's worth, I'm sure the series is very interesting...but it's not for me.

Story
Reidon Ward's first semester at the Galens Institute hasn't been without reward. In just over half a year he's gone from the weakest cadet at school to one of the strongest in his class, and there's no one left who would argue that his Device, Shido, isn't the most terrifying CAD they've ever laid eyes on. Still, Rei knows that his climb has barely begun, like he knows that the true fight is only just starting. After all… The Sectionals tournament has arrived. Rei, along with Aria, Viv, Catcher, and a couple unexpected squadmates, are about to face the first real battle of their careers.

32 hours of glorious listening!

Almost finished and it did NOT disappoint!
The author neatly sets up mysteries and situations that get in-depth resolution, while another 'enemy' is poised at the MC's back.
Maybe I'm just not that sophisticated or clever to read into the story all these 'political' situations but I absolutely LOVED IT! The only complaint I have (or two complaints) is it's not long enough and that I may have to wait another year or two for book 3. Because we have to meet the mysterious enemy that they're fighting.
The only reason why I gave the performance 4 stars is because I really dislike the Shaggy voice that Luke Daniels employs in every narration.

The year is 2245, and the world has undergone explosive growth in multiple industries. The age of Virtual Reality came long ago, opening up new fields for people to enjoy and seek employment. There were even those that chose to sacrifice their physical bodies, becoming digital existences that lived within Internet communities. But with the age of VR, everyone still dreamed of that next step, the next level of adventure.

Unfortunately, this book was not for me. There was little action or conflict and maybe I'm just too used to action and adventure followed by a bit of slice-of-life then back to the drama and fighting for your life. This book was the opposite in that it was a WHOLE lot of slice of life with a pinch of action.
It's probably would be a good listen for anyone that just want relatively passive book to listen to but I generally prefer action and adventure.
