Oh my goodness this book was so cute.
I really enjoy retellings of fairy tales, and this one was on exception. This retelling of Cinderella had me drawn in from the beginning. It had me smiling, listening until late into the night and rooting for Elle and Darien.
Being a "geek" myself and a fan of shows like Star Wars and Star Trek I couldn't contain how fun this book was. It has just the right amount of fandom and romance with fun characters to move the story along.
Sage was my favorite. She deserves her own story, but because of how her arch ends I am sure we will never see that which is a shame.
I am looking forward to listening to the others in this series.

I have exactly 5 hours and 10 minutes to get from Boston to New York City or the professional opportunity of a lifetime disappears. My only travel option? The second to last seat on a discount bus. Across from the bathroom. Wearing last night’s clothes (don’t ask). All worth it if I can make it in time.

This book - this series - is so cute.

I don't think I have all the words needed to explain how much I loved this book - this series.
I am not normally a romance reader, but if I keep reading series as cute and heart expanding as the Love Lines series I might be convinced to convert.
This book is about Gwen and Sam who meet each other on a bus traveling from PA to NY. The two quickly hit it off. When the bus breaks down Sam does everything in his power to help Gwen get to a career changing interview. Ahh this book was so good and I don't want to say much more as I will get into spoilers and I want you to read it for yourself.
I will say this...I listed to the audiobook and the narrators were so good. They made Sam and Gwen so real for me. I felt like I was listening to a movie and not a book. I was rooting for these characters from the start. I adored Sam the most. Good job Bastone, good job. If you know you know.

I remember the movie and I remember reading this book years ago and liked it. I wanted to get reacquainted with Dean Koontz and thought this would be the prefect book to loose myself in. I still liked the idea of it, but I just couldn't get past the narrator. I tried speeding it up and it just made it worse. I couldn't even make it half way. I'm saddened by this.

This was a fun listen. The book gave me the vibes of The Shinning, Poltergeist and Witch Board....all stories I enjoy. I have to admit that It was a tad slow in the beginning but once things picked up they really picked up and I can't wait for the sequel. If you like a good haunted house story this is one to check out.

Still on the emotional roller-coaster
Reviewed: 04-05-19
Oh wow what an emotional roller-coaster. One that left me in tears as I concluded the last chapters at lunch during work.
Grant really did a great job on this series. He created a world that made me want to come back to time and time again, even though it was a devastating and horrible world. He created characters that I cared about and had real feelings toward. I needed to know how they would fair. I found myself wondering, when I was out of book, if some would change. Most of all I was curious who would make it out of the Fayze. Some of these questions left me with a broken heart.
I could go on and on about how wonderful this book was, but I have done that for the five books that lead up to this book. Instead I want to talk about some of the characters and how I felt during their journey - without too many spoilers.
Lets start with Quinn. First I loved him, then I hated him and in the end he was one of my favorites.
Albert, first he was okay, then he was awful but in the end that little guy made my breath hitch in my throat and tears roll down my cheek.
Cain...gosh...Cain. He is one of the most complicated characters in this story. I absolutely hated him through the series, but he was a worthy villain and the dynamic between he and Sam was interesting. Let's not forget to mention his relationship with Dianna. In the end he also choked me up and sent me into a series of silent sobs. #TheLetters
The Breeze AKA Brianna. That girl. She was a pain in the tookus and conceited, thinking she was the best of the best, but she was brave. In the end - selfless.
Then there is Dekka. I think she was my constant favorite all through the series. She may have come from Coats Academy, but when you find out why she was there you may be as annoyed as I was, but she had a Perdido Beach heart since her introduction. Her and Sam's friendship was the highlight to the series even over Sam and Astrid's love. I see she is going to be in the 2nd book of the spin-off trilogy Monster, and I am excited to read more about her.
Lastly we have Sam and Astrid. The story wouldn't' have been the same without Astrid, but she was always a constant meh for me, but Sam...Sam was a worthy hero. He was complicated and simple but most of all he was a fifteen year old boy put into a horrible situation and he made due.
There were a lot more characters that I could ramble about, but these were the main ones I wanted to mention.
This series is worth the read and I for one am excited for the spin-off.
What are you doing still reading this...go, pick up Gone now!

Story
It's been one year since all the adults disappeared. Gone. Despite the hunger, despite the lies, even despite the plague, the kids of Perdido Beach are determined to survive. Creeping into the tenuous new world they've built, though, is the worst incarnation yet of the enemy known as the Darkness: fear. Within the FAYZ, life breaks down while the Darkness takes over - turning the dome-world of the FAYZ entirely black.

Wow...just wow....
Fear! Yep this is a fitting title for this installment of the Gone Series.
The dome is changing...growing dark, and soon the kids of the faze will be plunged into darkness. What do you suppose will happen? These are children we are talking about. Children just slightly over 15 or younger. For most their biggest fear is the darkness. Michael Gran did not let us down with the amount of fear incorporated into this book.
In this installment we learn more about what is happening outside of faze - with the adults - and I have to admit this was not my favorite part of the book. I liked being submerged into the world of the faze and not knowing what was happening outside of it. However, this being added to the book didn't take anything away from it either. It was just personal preference.
I am beginning to have mixed emotions with every book of this series I finish. I am getting closer to the end and I don't want the end to arrive. Grant has really created a world I care about and characters I need to know how they are doing.
This series really is one of the best series I have stepped into.

It's been eight months since all the adults disappeared. Gone. They've survived hunger. They've survived lies. But the stakes keep rising, and the dystopian horror keeps building. Yet despite the simmering unrest left behind by so many battles, power struggles, and angry divides, there is a momentary calm in Perdido Beach. But enemies in the FAYZ don't just fade away, and in the quiet, deadly things are stirring, mutating, and finding their way free.

Wow!! This series just keeps getting better and better and darker and darker.
It kind of reminds me of Lord of the Flies but with both genders. Kids doing what they need to do to survive and grow up too fast.
Gosh I had some many emotions as I listened to this book. I teared up, I scrunched my face and I got angry. Then just when things started to feel like the kids would get a break the bugs arrived.
***Spoilers***
There are so many things I could talk about, but the one thing I wanted to is Hunter's death. Oh my goodness the heart wrenching. Hunter may have been an accidental killer, but his heart was not. He had redeemed himself by hunting for the kids. He did not deserve the death that took him. It was such a sad scene.

Wow this book was full of twists and turns and surprises. The title is so fitting to the content of this story.
Sam has begun to loose it with all the pressure he puts on himself and the weight of responsibility.
Astrid has become self important and demanding.
And things are heating up.
What I don't know is...minor spoiler next...is if the parents being alive is real or not.
In this book we meet new characters and we loose some. It is a roller coaster of emotions and turmoil. This series is a must read.

She had an appealing voice.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
When Rhoda tried to save her children.
Any additional comments?
I just finished Teardrop by Lauren Kate and I really enjoyed the story.
I really liked getting the background for Eureka, Brooks, Ander and Cat. I enjoyed the interwoven legend of the Lost City of Atlantis. Which by the way is one of my favorite "places" to explore in my mind.
The story was really a background to these characters and a promise of what is to come. I am eager to read Waterfall the next book in this series.
I do recommend this book. It was a good read/listen.
