Publisher's summary

One killer. Thirteen victims. A million views.

A must-listen thriller for the social media age, perfect for fans of A Good Girl's Guide to Murder and One of Us Is Lying.

A decade ago, Jess lost her mother to the Magpie Man, an infamous serial killer who is still at large and planning to kill again. Now, she's going to use her new platform as the star of a YouTube reality series to catch him. That is, if he doesn't catch her first.

Jess's online show means that everyone is talking about her mother's murder case. But fame comes with its downsides. The whole world is watching her every move. And it's hard to know who she can trust.

Could the Magpie Man be lurking closer to her than she thought? Is he watching her right now?

It’s a ton of very short chapters, some issues.

There were over 100 chapters in this book. But each once was less than 5 minutes long. I thought that made it seem very choppy.
Also, the story took place outside of London, but the girls accent was very Americanized. And it just didn’t seem to fit. I found the teacher subplot a little odd.
I might try another by the author, but I was recommended this based on Karen McManus and Holly Jackson and it wasn’t as detailed or fleshed out as either of them.

Fun Summer Read

The book was fast paced and kept me guessing. The show concept was modern without trying too hard.

Amazing

I really enjoyed this book and felt a connection to the characters but I wish it went more into about Jamie.

Hit and Miss

The narrator’s voice was perfect for the age of the mc. That being said what I did not care for in this book is all the illegal things she got away with and some on camera for millions to see. I also thought it was a little weird how committed the new found friend was to helping her. Oh and as an only living parent dad was a bit too weak.

American narrator??

The book is set in England but the narrator is American. Weird . Very YA. More juvenile than I thought. Was ok but simple
