Publisher's summary
Did you know that only five percent of all your decisions are consciously made? Most decisions are made by the subconscious brain, perhaps this factually explains why humans are prone to rash judgment. Read on to discover more facts that can aid not only your structural and functional understanding of the brain but also help improve your cognitive skills.
The human brain is nothing less of a confounding conundrum that has baffled the likes of me for centuries. I, as a researcher, have always been fascinated by the brain’s idiosyncratic ability to not only comprehend its own being but also drive the curiosity regarding it. Owing to this fascination, I have dedicated a significant amount of time studying the old and new studies regarding the functioning and the structure of the brain. It was only in those hours of untethered exploration of my curiosity that I realized how common misconceptions about the brain could have profound detrimental implications, and thus this audiobook was born. I aim to debunk not only commonly held myths but also make scientific findings accessible to all.
In this audiobook, you shall find:
- Over 290 jaw dropping facts and trivia questions which have been divided into 148 facts and 147 trivia questions
- About 72 facts exploring the complex brain structure
- Six facts outlining the nutritional needs of the brain
- Twenty-one facts highlighting the potential harms of brain trauma and injuries
- Forty-four facts focusing on novel brain discoveries
- Facts based on new studies and researches
- Debunking common myths and misconceptions
- A trivia that allows for reflection
- Facts featured range from brain anatomy to physiology
- Scientific findings made comprehensible for all

Story
Consciousness is our gateway to experience: it enables us to recognize Van Gogh’s starry skies, be enraptured by Beethoven’s Fifth, and stand in awe of a snowcapped mountain. Yet consciousness is subjective, personal, and famously difficult to examine: philosophers have for centuries declared this mental entity so mysterious as to be impenetrable to science. In The Ravenous Brain, neuroscientist Daniel Bor departs sharply from this historical view, and proposes a new model for how consciousness works.

Why are some people so quick to recover from a setback while others wallow in despair? Why are some people so highly attuned to others that they seem psychic, while other people put both feet in it over and over again? Why are some people always up and others always down? In this hotly anticipated book, award-winning, pioneering neuroscientist Richard J. Davidson answers these questions by offering an entirely new model of our emotions - their origins, their power, and their malleability.

Fun and interesting!
One of the things I really appreciated about the audiobook was the way it was set up. Not only did it provide interesting facts, but it also included trivia questions to test my knowledge. The narrator even paused and played music in between asking the questions and providing the answers, which gave me time to try to answer the questions myself before hearing the answer.
Overall, I would highly recommend this audiobook to anyone who is interested in learning more about the brain. It's a great way to expand your knowledge in a fun and engaging way!

So educational
My 11 year old son loves science and I got this book for him. He takes advance classes and even though he is very smart, these facts and trivia were very challenging for him. He told me he learned a lot and is a very important book to add to his collection. Now he can add these facts to his “did you know“ series in his YouTube channel.
