This book is well written, well narrated, and engaging. It breaks down exactly how ADHD can present in children and teaches parents several ways to create structure in the home. The author gives several tips for focusing on building a positive, supportive relationship with your child. Thankful for this book!

This book is so valuable to me. Two of my grandchildren have ADHD and I found this audiobook to be very informative. I have no prior experience for dealing with this at all! Of course, I love these children and I was at a total loss as to how to deal with their outbursts. Now I am beginning to understand and I am much more at ease with them, especially when I’m babysitting them on my own.

I am very grateful to the author for providing me with some guidance. I highly recommend this audiobook to anyone who is looking for more information on ADHD.

Great Information for Parents of ADHD Children

This book is a great introduction to the medical model of ADHD. Rose Lyons discusses ways to use behavioral management techniques to deal with children with ADHD. Many examples are given. She recommends the establishment of organized routines to help to alleviate anxiety and stress. Parents are encouraged to reward positive behavior and take advantage of numerous available resources. The author lists some of those resources, including podcasts, support groups, and organizations dedicated to serving ADHD children and their parents. She offers many helpful tips, including the importance of getting enough sleep.

The first chapter, Demystifying ADHD, was particularly informative, describing the different types and causes of ADHD. It elaborates on elements of the disease that don’t seem to be well-known. It was a good foundation for the rest of the book, which I am sure many parents will find most beneficial.

A must for ADHD parenting

This audiobook really covers all the bases for a parent of a child with ADHD. It explains ADHD, how your child perceives the world and why, and really speaks to you from a parents' point of view. Besides offering approaches and ideas to help your child live a more calm, and fulfilling life, it also discusses the school setting and IEPs, as well as offering lists of podcasts and apps to learn more, stay organized and focused, and share knowledge among an online community. One of my favorite parts of the book is when the author compares ADHD medication to braces- a means of artificial assistance to help aid the body acheive an end result. The author illustrates with clear examples of situations, what to say, what NOT to say, and how handle them. I also found the narrator easy to listen to. I highly recommend this book if you are struggling to understand your ADHD child and want to help them-- and yourself-- live the best life!
