A Life Unraveled is the story of kindergarten teacher Lily Gallo, who is a happily married mother of three with a perfect life - until the day she is brutally attacked while out for a run.
Lily grew up on a farm and always considered herself resilient. But when the small town’s high school football hero is arrested and convicted for the attack, Lily and her family suffer retaliation from some of the community, enticing Lily to wrap herself in an opioid cloud. When she puts her daughters’ lives in jeopardy, the wake-up call motivates Lily to flush the narcotics and clean up her life. But the clarity she expects is overshadowed by unnerving memory lapses.
As unexplained events become more disturbing, Lily believes that, although her attacker started the destruction, someone else is determined to finish it.

The narration wasn't very good. Poor pronunciation of regional Minnesota places and medical terms, and not an accurate read of the author's words. The voice was pleasant. But she wasn't faithful to the text. I like the flexibility of listening while I exercise and clean. But I also like to follow along with the narration when reading before bed. So very often I purchase a book and it's audible version. Unfortunately the narrator didn't follow the authors words. It made it confusing to follow and then word choice seemed redundant at times. When in reality it wasn't. It was the narrator taking the liberty to rearrange or rephrase things. The redundance happened when the narrator fliped back to reading what was actually written and some of the words were used when the narrator was free wheeling the text. She also moved some information around which made following confusing. So I gave up on listening and following and just did one or the other.
My recommendation, skip the audio on this one. But buy the book it's a good read. Support our MN authors. If you want to just listen great. But don't attribute the redundant word choice the the author. That's all the narrator.
Great story, Meh naration
