About this listen

When actress and model Allison Langley leaves her former rockstar husband in the middle of the night, it’s all her Oak Hill neighbors can talk about. But the gossip comes to an abrupt halt when five-year-old Billy Barnes goes missing on his walk home from kindergarten.

Billy’s mother, Rachel, blames herself for being at work and letting her only child walk alone. Cassidy, Billy’s teenage babysitter, was also late to arrive on the afternoon he disappeared and blames herself for his disappearance.

As the clock ticks down, police are unable to find any trace of Billy, forcing Rachel to ponder the enemies she’s made in their well-off suburb. Could it be one of her neighbors who stole her son? Would they abduct Billy to hurt her? How easy would it be to take a child while the parents or nannies are distracted?

When another child goes missing, the town is put under a microscope as the police try to get to the bottom of the disappearances. Will they be able to find the two children, or will it be too late? What secrets lie at the heart of this tragedy, and how far will one go to keep those dangerous secrets buried?

This was an okay story, but I wouldn't highly recommend it. The narrator who portrayed Alison was terrible....she sounded like a grade school kid reading her creative writing essay out loud.

Sort of Good

The storyline was ok and performed fairly well, but I figured It out less than 1/2 way through the book so that was disappointing. I mean there were literally no other options.

Predictable

I enjoyed this one. A quick entertaining listen, and well narrated. Would definitely recommend it!

Fast moving!

The narrator for Allison was not good. Thank goodness for the other narrators. Otherwise, I may have given up on the listen.

This was good listen even if a little predictable.

I was looking forward to this as I read a lit of good reviews but by chapter 5 I already knew how it would end I kept hoping for a twist I wasn't expecting but t never came unfortunately. The end itself the couple of lines were dumb too indicating she would take a child after all that? I think this book had potential to be awesome but it fell short.

so many neurotic people. not one I would want to know. story was OK, just characters drove me crazy!

hard to finish

This book was just okay. I knew what would happen early, so it was too predictable. It was also unrealistic; a five-year-old who walks to school and has a cell phone, coupled with all his other characteristics, made the character unbelievable. The author must not know many five-year-olds.

Predictable

This is a great listen that has an ending that you don't see coming, Definitely worth the money 😁

A great listen

Love the book because it gives me suspense mood and how the rising action builds up throughout the whole story

Best book I ever read because it's more mysterious

This story was pretty typical of your suspense who done it.
I wish they would have used narrators that had different voice types only one was distinct.
