About this listen

Wealthy and roguish, Demon Cynster is perfectly content without love. Having witnessed his Cynster brethren driven to their knees by women, he knows all too well what the power of love can do to a man. But he never banked on meeting Felicity Parteger, a luscious, curvy beauty in desperate need of help. Could this tempting woman be the one? Felicity knows he will never pledge her his love - can passion and lust alone suffice? Driving Laurens' tale toward its climax, Simon Prebble's powerful narration takes listeners to a new pinnacle of pleasure.©1999 Savdek Management Proprietory, Ltd. Yes the endings are predictable. I did like this book better than the previous one in the series. This was enjoyable but not my favorite so far. Seems like the male characters have lacked depth since the first couple books. However, I will finish the series as it is interesting to see how they all come out in the end. I think this is a fabulous narrator for this genre.

still like this series

Good story, great characters, plenty of surprises. I do wish the narrator hadn't dropped from a loud tone to a low whisper so often. Most people listen while driving. Many times, road noise drowned out the softer parts. I had to back up and change the volume dozens of times. Ch. 13 was particularly annoying due to drastic ups and downs of volume.

Very good

Very enjoyable read with great wit and humor. Steamy passion that was not overdone with an engaging story line. Simon Prebble, as always, makes the store come alive.

This writer is remarkable! Her plots are interesting and unique, Her characters are well drawn and different, even within the same family. Her women are strong; her men, although independent and not looking for commitment always eventually turn into supportive and the best candidates for spouses. Also, this narrator is superb with his changing voices and interpretation of each character right on. Of the total of the four books I’ve read from Stephanie this is my favorite so far. Enjoy!

This book is one of my favorites!

I’ve enjoyed most of the Cynster stories so far. I keep searching for a good story with perhaps more sensuality that the strictly rated G of the original Georgette Heyer novels and those similar, while avoiding the more modern bend towards too much graphic detail, whether about sex or the uglier sides of the prevalent social conditions, personal depravities, or whatever other ugliness there was or is.
I have settled on Stephanie Laurens for awhile because I’m uncomfortable with some of the other writers in the area. I’m not looking to feel despair and disgust in my entertainment. Laurens so far has given me a good balance. Enjoying and protecting the beauty of innocence was at the heart of this story. It touched more of a chord for me than the previous stories, though there is a common theme among them all to some degree. Yes, the men have been rakes but the right woman brings out the white knight. And an secondary mystery of some sort to solve. This one explored how lovely and potent and powerful innocence in love can be, and that it is something worth nourishing and protecting. Good job.

So far, it’s my new favorite Cynster story
