About this listen

Hours before the opening of her career counseling practice, Gilda Greco discovers the body of golden girl, Carrie Ann Godfrey, neatly arranged in the dumpster outside Gilda’s office. Gilda’s life and budding career are stalled as Detective Carlo Fantin, her former high school crush, conducts the investigation. When three more dead blondes turn up, all brutally strangled and deposited near Gilda’s favorite haunts, she is pegged as a prime suspect for the murders.

Frustrated by Carlo’s chilly detective persona and the mean-girl antics of Carrie Ann’s meddling relatives, Gilda decides to launch her own investigation. She discovers a gaggle of suspects, among them a yoga instructor in need of anger management training, a lecherous photographer, and fourteen ex-boyfriends.

As the puzzle pieces fall into place, shocking revelations emerge, forcing Gilda to confront the envy and deceit she has long overlooked.

The Narrator Was Too Bad To Keep Listening!

Would you try another book from Joanne Guidoccio and/or Eliza Huberth?

I would try another book by Joanne Guidoccio, but not Eliza Huberth! The story had me intrigued, but I just couldn't continue listening to the terrible narration!

Has A Season for Killing Blondes turned you off from other books in this genre?

Not at all.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

The tones she used were way off, she gave the characters a hysterical sound which was off putting.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from A Season for Killing Blondes?

I couldn't say, I didn't finish the book.

Any additional comments?

I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

Not for me.

I have to admit to not finishing this book. I did try. I don't know what it was but I just couldn't get into it. I would listen to a bit and then go and listen to something else. I did this a few times and then I just gave up.
I don't know if it was the narrator or the book itself but it did not grip me at all.
This is not for me but it might be for others.

Not a bad listen

I liked this listen but it wasn't very challenging. I knew who the culprit was early on, or at least one of them, without too much mental effort on my part.

As the story unfolded, we get the feel for a close-knit Italian community, its inhabitants, and social mores. Intermixed are the vicarious lives we lead and the consequences of our decisions.

Our main character, Gilda, won the lottery and even though the story is not about what she does with the money, that backstory is interwoven into the how and why of things.

The narration was good for the subject. Huberth was easy to listen to and her voices were distinct and recognizable.

The title is a little misleading but you have to listen to know why. All in all, not a bad listen.
