About this listen

We promised ourselves that we wouldn’t use something so cliché as "Jack is back" in the book description, but now that it is typed, we might as well own it.

Jack is back! He is once again joined by his loyal friend Gooch and his loveable familiar Rat Damon as they attempt to save Earth from the might of the Ravanan Empire.

With the addition of two newcomers from earth, the party continues their quest to shut down power sources, make friendly with the natives, and be excellent to each other.

Advanced Heroes of Last Resort is book two in the LitRPG series The Other Guys, which features leveling, detailed character systems, epic world-saving quests, and much more. The story features a middle-aged main character with glorious hair; he has once been called the fat Patrick Swayze of his generation.

Advanced Heroes of Last Resort contains:

  • Detailed character system
  • Epic world-saving quests
  • Fantasy violence
  • Character sheets/System interface
  • XP/levels/skills/character perks
  • Rat Damon
  • More pop culture references than Mr. T has gold chains

Wonderful sequel

This was a great installment to the series. The story and characters were enjoyable, as always, and the humor was even funnier than the first. I also enjoyed the voice acting much more this time. Looking forward to the third book.

Feels like Volume goes up and down.

Sound editting was really bad some times and barely hear the narrators other times they are really loud so I couldn't hear too much of the book because it was so quiet and other times I would have my ears blasted. Theirs no comfortible singular listen volume. Listened to other books to make sure it wasn't my headphones. Narrartors are good just the sound edditing. Really disappointed becuase the first book was really good.

An enjoyable listen

I am a excited to see how Rat Damon really steps up and starts taking on a leadership role. Perhaps he can sire a whole new generation of rats to be summoned.

Even better than book 1

Really enjoyed the introduction of new characters and the continued banter between them. The Lucy character in particular was well done in the voice acting.

I have to admit I got a lot of funny looks while walking outside and chuckling to myself as I listened to this book!

Great 2nd Book with Awesome Voice Acting

I really enjoyed this 2nd book in the series. The were many times when I was laughing aloud and getting sideways looks from people nearby. A lot of nostalgia from my youth that it recalled. The voice actors were exceptional. I am so impressed by this ensemble cast from Sound Booth. They are all great and really brought the story to life. Although, my favorite parts were when the Bard sings. I got visions of Jack Black performing them while wearing a Fabio wig. All of the songs were entertaining with Mr. Bone Jangles topping the list.

More cringe than entertainment.

Where do I start?

1. There is no character growth. Only stat sheet growth.

2.There is no real dialogue. Just pop culture references only 40 year old geeks can be expected to understand.

3. The writing is clearly PG young adult extreme white knight with 8th grader syndrome. Which makes no sense, considering the 30-40 year old demographic for literally all the dialogue.

4. MC is a Bard. Narrator is good at his job but is NOT a singer, and the parody lyrics are awful.. Painful to listen to.

I really hopes the rough writing in the fort book was going to get better, but it just got worse. I won't continue this series in the future. Getting to the end of this book took willpower for me.
