Publisher's summary

The worst thing about the end of the world is we did it to ourselves.

Isaac Thoma lived to see the last handful of survivors defeat the demonic champion. He is now alone, his past in ashes, the last and most powerful human on a blighted Earth. But what if he could go back?

Hurled back in time, Isaac has one chance to change it all. A chance to warn humanity of their impending doom. A chance to stop the [System] before shortsightedness and lust for power can render humanity extinct. Facing malign deities, demonic hordes, and the unstoppable march of human greed, Isaac will give his all to prevent the end that has already happened on the day the world became quantified.

Apocalypse Redux is a pre-apocalyptic LitRPG by Jakob H. Greif (a.k.a. Wilderfast). A rationalist approach to fighting the end of the world amidst mind-bending adventures and battles against infernal forces, Apocalypse Redux is the series that took RoyalRoad by storm. Buy it now to see if humanity’s fate can be changed. To see if one man with a second chance at life can rise up and make a difference.

If you’re looking for something fresh, this is it.

This series is best for people already familiar with the LitRpg genre, but it will help anyone who is unfamiliar get familiar fast. This is an excellent book, good character development. Good world building. Good everything.

Good story, ungrateful main character

Let me preface by saying I really love this story. I just don’t like the main character.

Mc is super ungrateful. How many people would give up EVERYTHING to see a loved one again? He gets that very chance and will not stop complaining about it and decides to not meet up with the people he lost. It truly makes me wonder what is even the point of going back in time if you seem to regret every moment of it? “By going back in time I’ve essentially killed them” weren’t they already dead?! “They won’t be the same people I know” yeah they get to be BETTER people, ALIVE people. Not to mention the dude rants about people changing and how every minute action caused them to change over time but doesn’t notice they were changing while he knew them so they would also be different people as time went by. I’d rather a protagonist that would stop everything to hug his once dead mother and sisters than one that would cry at the thought of old friends and refuse to pick up their calls. This guys a worse rogue version of Zac from Defiance of the Fall but at least it’s not cultivation fic.

Top tier all the way.

This story has an unselfish, smart MC That's determined to help the world level up and not just his own personal gains.

The MC is a fighter turned part researcher to help the world avoid a complete apocalypse!

Excellent story and good narrator that doesn't distract from how the story is written. Awesome job. Keep up the work!

Good story

Another reviewer complained about the lab tech part of the story, but that is an integral part of what the MCis trying to do. If that was removed, the book would be a completely different book. I think the author is very clear on what is being done and why. It makes sense in context.

Overall the book is pretty good. There are a couple places where maybe cultural terms or words from German were meaningless to me (e.g. graulich spelling?). This is very minor, and is the worst flaw I found. That specific word was clearly defined in the story, but I still tried to google it for a better context, with no luck.

The story was well written and flowed very well.

The MC is not a genius and does not have perfect knowledge of what will happen, which makes it feel more authentic. He even admits if he’d known that this would happen he would have spent more time prepping.

I enjoyed the story enough to get the next book in the series. It’s not the best story ever, but it is worth the credit.

It’s good and a little different

The author makes some mistakes that authors in this genre makes, as in multiple stat updates without changes.
It is different from the normal time travel book in that he doesn’t just rush power to be a beacon of strength to lead the world, but instead becomes a researcher to help spread his knowledges and experience to the rest of the population. Book 1, I enjoyed it and look forward to how the story continues.
Really good narrator, solid story, goes over stats a bit too often.
