About this listen

The apocalypse is coming, but only a lucky—or perhaps unlucky—few know.

Silas is inducted into the System, becoming the last in a long line of Earth's "forerunners." The rewards are great, but the danger is greater. We are not alone in the universe. The fate of five worlds hangs on how their forerunners perform.

Will Silas have what it takes to win Earth a place in the multiverse? Or will Earth become another mining world stripped of all resources and left a barren husk floating in the cosmos?

A system-enforced secret, a deadly challenge, and only a year to go. The countdown begins now!

Well crafted story

I liked the narrator and the story. The A-Team spoke to my childhood so of course I laughed hard after hearing that bit. I also enjoyed the moral compass of the main character. Well done!

solid intro to this genre

simple and enjoyable. The main character has a heart and brains. The only issue I had was it seemed like a lacking system and the family dynamics where muted. The whole system changing who you are stick didn't make it interesting.

Time will tell

I like the premise and the system. Lots of potential here.

Travis Baldree is consistent as gravity.

My only complaint is the two female forerunners. Their bigotry towards men, disrespect of Silas, and constant sh*t tests make them unlikable. I hope this is intentional by the author so he can have them grow as characters. It would suck if he was just using them as mouthpieces to virtue signal and they never change.

I'll be picking up book two for sure.

Good not great.

If you’re looking for a generally good and easy listen litrpg, this is a great book for you. Better than some of the poorly written bare-bones books in the genre. Has nothing that truly sets it apart.

feel good book

great book where MC is not worthless or a murderer for stats. The story to me feels refreshing even tho I've read plenty of induction books. only gripe I have is the timed missions then return to home world. other than that I'm moving onto book 2.

Lack of progression

Though the book was phenomenal and the vocabulary on the descriptions was great it felt like the progression of the character was jumped quite often. Though I’m one who listens to a lot of LITrpgs and can get sick of the MC being stuck at slow levels it felt like some of the more intensive fights within the book felt a lot like they were just glossed over or sunmaried. Other than that book has been great so far and I look forward to listenting to more as always Travis baldrey is the goat when it comes to narration.
