Jack Valentini isn't my type. Sexy, brooding cowboys are fine in the movies, but in real life, I prefer a suit and tie. Proper manners. A close shave. Pretty soon there's a whole different kind of tension between us, the kind that has me misbehaving in barns, trees, and pickup trucks. I've never done anything so out of character - but it feels too good to stop.

And the more I learn about the grieving ex-Army sergeant, the better I understand him. Losing his wife left him broken and bitter and blaming himself. He doesn't think he deserves a second chance at happiness. But he's wrong.

I don't need to be his first love. If only he'd let me be his last.

I'm madly in love with this book! MH did an awesome job of creating two incredible characters that you instantly identify with in many ways and can stand up and cheer for emphatically. Jack and Margo couldn't be more opposite of what they want in a partner but they were exactly what each other needed. This is a story of second chances at love and life. This book was beyond what I expected.

If I had one criticism it would be the male narrator Rob Howard--he was just ok, but Renee Givens was superb and brought life to the characters. This book sat in my library for several months after I bought it because I knew it would be emotionally charged and I wasn't quite ready. I'm so glad I finally listened! It was emotional, yes, but it was equal parts funny, sexy, and downright one of the best books I've heard this year!

Margot (a/ka GoGo) was an extremely likable female lead. She was smart, funny, kind, rich, and beautiful. She had been on a trail of bad luck with men until she went to the country farm to do some PR work for the owners. One of the country brothers craved her at first sight - and she craved him back, even though he was not her type at all. He fought the attraction and it appears that GoGo is in for another heart break.
The readers are very good. The book is one that I listened to in one sitting.

I purchased this audiobook forever ago, and I'm kicking myself now for waiting so long to listen to it. The narrators were great! I really enjoyed this book and really liked Margot and Jack. My heart ached for Jack and all he has been through, so I'm glad he got his hea! This was definitely a 4 or 4.5 star book for me!

This was my first Melanie Harlow novel and I loved it! Jack and Margo were as different as night and day, with totally opposite backgrounds, but they were made for each other. I liked how each of their backgrounds brought out the best in the other. Hot guys, the country life and romance always get me and this book has them all in spades.

This was a Heart Wrenching Story of a man refusing to move on and find love again, from his guilt of his past transgressions and a woman who wanted to be there to help him heal. The roller coaster of emotions and the heat they both couldn't deny kept you from pausing the story. A must read or Listen
.The narrators did a great job helping the reach their HEA

I loved this story. I didn’t think I like it but I loved the sassy and smart heroine. She wasn’t going to make a decision for him to be with her even though she was hurting inside. She stood her ground until he was ready. I loved the narrators and the author. I highly recommend!

I enjoyed this book very much! The performers we're great! This was my first book by this author. She rig writes eloquently but with lot of grit. I'll be looking for more books by her.
