Publisher's summary

Workaholic Erin Ryder was on the fast track to self-destruction. Reeling after her lover walked out on her, she turned to booze and caffeine to make it through each day. After a family intervention, she finds herself on a remote ranch in New Mexico - on womyn’s land - to detox and heal. No cell service, no internet - she’s convinced she won’t last three days, much less for the three-month sentence her father has mandated.

Running from the chaos that had become her life, Melanie West moved to Eagle Bluff Ranch seven years ago. By far the youngest there, she embraced the compassionate, peaceful life that the elders espoused. Living off what her garden produced, her chickens and goats became her friends and confidants. Exposure to the outside world was limited to the handful of guests who stayed a few days at the ranch each year.

This summer would be different. Melanie found herself hosting a young woman for three months. A young woman who wanted to be anywhere but there. As the days and weeks passed, their animosity turned to friendship as they helped the other heal from their past failures.

Erin soon found herself loving life on Mel’s little farm. Loving life and loving Mel. Saying goodbye would be the hardest thing she had to do - saying goodbye to Mel...or saying goodbye to her previous life.

FAN-FRIGGIN-TASTIC!!!!!!!

I loved the realness of the lead characters! Mel and Erin were holding my heart in their hands for the entire book!! The ensemble characters were very much present without being overly entrenched in their story! Gerri Hill is the first lesbian author I fell in love with and have all of her books except 2 that I will be purchasing soon. She had me completely when I first got started years ago with Hunter's Way and One Summer Night....OHMIGOSH!!!!!!! SHE IS ONE OF THE BEST!!

Enjoyed The Storyline and Characters

The main characters were down to earth and complimented each other. I also enjoyed escaping with the description of the remote area, gardening, and animals.

Worth a shot if you like the author.

I like it a fair bit, plot was a bit aimless, but it works for the setting. Could be worse. Some of the scene transitions are a little weird, but not distracting.

Satisfying romance

This is vintage Gerri Hill romance. One troubled stressed out city slicker gets sent to a remote womyn's commune where she has to detox from unhealthy work habits, caffeine, meat, digital devices and more. She is hosted by a woman with a difficult past, who loves the simple, solitary life she leads.
I really enjoyed this and felt myself longing for the kind of life described in the book. The love story is sweet and satisfying.
I haven't listened to a lot of Nicole Zanzarella's narrations, but this was really heartfelt and I want to look out for more by her.

On my heart!

I have to say that this book, in my opinion, is Gerri Hill's best yet. The story is so wonderful, so romantic and was very hard to put down. I would recommend for sure.

Great book...definitely a must read.

Gerri Hill did and wonderful job with this novel. Nicol Zanzarella also shared her narrating talent with this novel. Erin's "forced" journey was full of emotion, honesty and sensuality. Mel's story is intense and amazingly emotional too. Friendship happens in many ways. Their relationship in this novel is a great illustration of that path. My favorite concept in this work was the women's land. Intertwining that history into the basis of the book was refreshing and had me reflecting Lesbian history. I detest spoilers...so I am going to refrain myself. This is such a great read. I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a realistic and engaging Lesbian novel.

Not high literature, but sweet romance

Well, I really liked the New Mexico ranch setting and country life there. The story was a nice escape.
