About this listen

New city, new troubles. It's going to take all the magic Special Agent Diana Sheen can gather to keep the peace.

But will it be enough?

Diana runs a secret Federal agency that combats magic mixed with wicked. Her team cleans up the worst streets, disguised as bounty hunters.

Challenge number one is a small troll and his ongoing obsession with action films. Good thing he's a helluva fighter too.

Still, is it enough? Dark magic has a new twist born from an ancient cult and they're playing for keeps.

Good thing Agent Sheen knows how to play rough. It's all in a day's work at the secret bureau of the Federal Agents of Magic.

still good

Special Agent Diana Sheen in charge is heading the ARES (anti-magic response and enforcement) Pittsburgh office. The area is a hot bed of magic and Pittsburgh is the closest city.
This is the same battle that they were fighting in book 1. They don’t ever seem to get ahead of the criminals. ARES is the number one obstacle against Remembrance. Remembrance is a hierarchical organization which is collecting artifacts of power and believe in the primacy of magic. It also sees ARES as an organization that threaten its’ power. Diana and her team area on their hit list.
Diana is building her team and fighting evil. Diana’s team is, Rath, a troll, Cara, former army and US Marshal, and detective Tony Ryan. Max the dog does train with Diana and Rath but unfortunately, he does not go with them on raids. The action is fast paced, the humor is funny, and the fights are great. Diana’s magic is changing in new ways and it gets them out of some difficult situations.
The book ends in a cliff hanger which I do not like. Fortunately, I enjoy the story and will read the next book in the series.

Fun

These are fun, no deep books, Rath is still the best thing about them and as the team gets bigger he gets more interesting.

Flat, disjointed, boring

The premise of the story sounded interesting, however the story was flat, lacked real intrigue or humor. I had a horrible time trying to stay engaged. I struggled to give book 1 my attention & by book 2 I could no longer listen. I was very disappointed at how flat and disjointed the story and delivery were and the lack of character development. Just not my cup of tea at all.
