Publisher's summary

English Prep stands tall with its ivy-covered exterior and old, wrought-iron doors. The stone gargoyles sit at the school's entrance, knowing just as much as anyone: I don't belong.

Once upon a time, I did. I belonged in the "it" crowd with all the other well-endowed kids, but now, I am no longer welcome.

Not after five years away from this place. Not after the scandal that landed me on the wrong side of the tracks.

I'd be lying if I said I'm not looking forward to seeing the one person who was always by my side. My old best friend. My safe place.

Only, Christian isn't the same boy I left behind. His cold, brooding, devastatingly attractive glare sends chills down my spine. My old best friend doesn't welcome me with open arms, and I have no idea why. Lies continue to fall from our lips.

Christian wants me gone. But I'm determined to stay.

Contains mature themes.

Love love love

Friends to enemies to lovers may be my new favorite trope. I loved seeing the dynamic shift between Hayley and Christian. Nothing like a good “who hurt you” moment or moments. Loved the story!

Cute read

I enjoyed it but I like my man child with a little more power. He was all talk but a child. When I read prep books I expect the boys to have grown men money and rule ish like men. It’s what’s make prep books so freaking good. The female reading this book paused like she was William shatner. It was distracting. She was extremely natural when reading piper’s part but when she switched to the heroine🙄 I ended up finishing this on kindle.

An entertaining dark romance, with bully elements and a sprinkle of mystery.

Good listen

It's a little slow moving and slightly underdeveloped I would have liked a little more resolution with the Christian's father and more of an explanation on Hayley's whole issue. Overall it's was an intriguing listen with good narration.

Cheesy unrealistic teenage drama

The writing is childish and cringe. After the 11th time of hearing everyone call Christian their king, and even the adults at the school care about his relationships and give him so much power-and why? Because he’s attractive? His dad is rich? Everyone there is rich, that was talked about way more than it should have been.
The whole “I’m not like other girls” trope is boring and overdone. Also, Christian is a complete dick to the main character for absolutely no reason.
In the beginning of the book he sees the bruises on her face and literally could not care less even bullying her in front of everyone. But then when she gets hurt again he suddenly cares SO much but nothing had changed. There wasn’t anything that happened that brought them back together- he just decided to start caring? To stop bullying her for something she had nothing to do with? Makes no sense.
I like a little bit of cheese and silliness but the dialogue is gag worthy, the teenage characters are stupid and the adults are completely useless. Definitely written for no one more mature than a 16 year old. Thankfully it was free
