About this listen
Amara’s life didn’t start out easy. As a child, she hid from the slavers. Then, she hid from her own government, until a chance meeting on the side of the road changed the course of her life for the better. Now an adult with a secure and prosperous life, a chance meeting with a traveling bard and ensuing street fight leaves Amara with a difficult decision. Will she stay in the secure life she had so longed for, or will she risk everything on an adventure that could change her and her friend’s lives completely?

It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

Story
I was the Ashlord—a primordial, an apex predator amongst beasts, commanding legions. I fell, despite my power, although not due to the strength of my enemies...but the betrayal of my own kind. A voice whispered to me as I lay dying on the cold ground, promising rebirth and revenge. Accepting his offer, I fell into a timeless sleep. I awaken to the cold and crushing dark of a forgotten grave and discover that I have changed. No longer a primordial force of nature, I now inhabit the body of a once immortal cultivator, the very same one that tried to claim my core as I lay dying.

As one of the downtrodden in Eden’s Meadow, TJ has led a life of scraping by as best he could. With little more to his name than a winning smile, his life takes a turn for the interesting as he befriends Serina, a rebellious young woman among the godlike Devas that control his realm. Being a test subject for her magic seems innocent enough, even if she occasionally tinkers with things she shouldn’t.

excellent story
keeping this short because the details are largely irrelevant; the story was good, it plays out much like listening to a tabletop campaign being narrated after the fact. this can lead to some descrepencies but in this particular case... surprisingly few that i noticed, and i usually latch on to such things.
good narration, good story, enough said honestly.

If you love fantasy listen to this.
This book was so good. I stayed glued to the story, I had a long drive with my daughters a couple states over and we listened to this story. It was excellent it kept the attention of not only my daughters but me. They enjoyed all the magic and fantasy. I love the way the writer described everything. The narrators voice was perfect. If you love fantasy or D&D this is the perfect novel to start. I can’t wait to read the next two stories in the series.

This is a great intro to what seems to be an interesting story and world.
-the narrator did a great job bringing the characters to life
-the writer made you like and dislike plenty of characters
-the story was engaging, and leads you wanting to find out what happens next (especially in what I would call the third act)
-well worth the read/listen
