About this listen

I was the Ashlord—a primordial, an apex predator amongst beasts, commanding legions. I fell, despite my power, although not due to the strength of my enemies...but the betrayal of my own kind.

A voice whispered to me as I lay dying on the cold ground, promising rebirth and revenge. Accepting his offer, I fell into a timeless sleep.

I awaken to the cold and crushing dark of a forgotten grave and discover that I have changed. No longer a primordial force of nature, I now inhabit the body of a once immortal cultivator, the very same one that tried to claim my core as I lay dying. He is part of me now, a fragment, sharing space with the Ashlord, and the tricky spirit that pulled us all together.

What am I now? And will I be able to resist the siren song of revenge and redemption?

I really dig the MCs backstory. I feel like it’s unique compared to your standard cultivation books.

Great cultivation story!

Too much attention in a cultivation world were might makes right. Not very convincing when every chapter draws powerful cultivators attention.

Dude would be dead

Inconsistencies of the story are minor, but hurt the story. One moment in the story he tells the love interest something and later in the story it is revealed to be true...so she asks why he didn't tell her. One moment the MC is immortal, next as mortal as anyone else. That one might be a joke from one character to the MC, but still.

The inconsistencies...

Definitely not my usual cup of tea and I really enjoyed this book and was disappointed when I found there wasn’t a next book ready. I am not a gamer but I raised children that are gamers so I get it. I also love a bad guy turns good and sees his prior mistakes story. There is enough badness in the world so I love when an author can engage a reader and set examples of goodness, happiness, friendship, loyalty and love. There is enough reality in each of our lives we don’t need fiction with bad endings.!!if we want bad endings we can turn on the news. That said, definitely not the ending Iwas expecting. It does lead you into a new book though…..if a new book comes to audible! Hint hint!

Not usually my cup of tea and I really enjoyed it

a interesting twist to see a apex predator turned into a human having to deal with human emotions.

MC is kind of a whiny simp but overall it alright.
Didn't think there would be so much romance.

The girlfriend is annoying, has massive mood swings. Gets angry out no ware then is over it just as quickly.

Decent with 1 issue

This book needed a good editor. The author contradicts himself so many times throughout the book it felt like most of the time he was just writing what sounded good to him at the time he was writing that paragraph and would forget about what he had already said in the previous chapters.
Now after saying that, this story does have promise and can turn out to be a good story. So I’m hoping with the next one we will see the author grow in his story telling skills and he’ll get someone that will be able to help him keep his story straight. If he can do that then I think book 2 will be a good read. If not I will probably give up on this series.

Could have been better.

the writing was well thought out, and performed excellently! I would recommend this to anybody.

wonderful storytelling

A bit of lore, a touch of death, some adventure, and a fun bunch of characters.

The only thing I didn't like was the main female character's constant manic mood swings. Angry, shy, delighted, indignant, proud, depressed...all in the space of a couple paragraphs. Being around someone like that is exhausting and terrible. Author, if you read this, calm her down and give her some continuity, a touch of logical thought, and less overreacting.

Nicely done.
